Lack of knowledge and/or experience and or operator error.

Agreed...

But since knowledge/experience means different things to different people, I would list "understanding" above all else.

I know a couple guys that have been reloading for quite some and know enough to assemble loads. If you were to ask them they would tell you they have been reloading for many years (they have) for all their various calibers (which in their mind covers knowledge and experience). The truth of it is they really know little beyond screwing dies into a press, priming, charging and seating the bullet... they also know that if you turn the necks, weigh every charge, seat bullet just off lands etc. you will magically turn your rifle into a tackdriver /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif...usually when they have a problem with a load they blame the gun, the powder, the primer...but they're never very certain of the cause or able to diagnose it... but they'll be first in line to give out reloading advice lol.

It seems for some that it is more important to participate on a open forum then to understand what it is they are talking about.

Your friends are 'reloaders' and not 'handloaders', like I said there is a difference.

Oh yeah, try telling them that.

As I said, knowledge and experience mean different things to different people.

These forums are full of reloading experts with relatively little understanding beyond the basics...they just don't realize it. They're also full of predator hunting experts that never seem to actually go out and hunt (or post anything to make you believe they ever did). The internet has allowed them to become an authority on something they might, or might not of been successful at in real life...who knows and who cares.

It's just what you deal with on an open forum...everyone has an opinion and it should be taken with a grain of salt. The people who actually do know something about this stuff can recognize what is good info vs. the crap.

I think this whole post really both says a lot and touches upon a LOT of truths. ESPECIALLY the last sentence........ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I don't have anything to add here. I just wondered how many quotes in a quote this thing can handle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hey guys, newbie "quoter" here...

Just wanted to ask how to use the "quote" feature. Any one have any ideas they could share???

I don't have any "quoting" manuals as of yet, but my build is on the way and I'll need to be "quoting" alot in the near future. I think I've got the /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif down pat, but that darned "quote" thingy is really getting to me!!

Sorry again for the newbie question. I tried the 'search' feature, but it doesn't seem to be working. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Thanks in advance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

P.S...

I just picked up a Savage combo at Wally World to tie me over until my other Savage build gets bedded into the Ultimate Choate Stock. Replaced the "cheapo" Simmons with a CounterSniper 12-56 X 69 w/ bertrillium coated diamond etched sniperplex reticle and was wondering if anyone had any input on this scope (since I already bought it and need to pump my fragile ego up).

If so, how's it doing for you beyond 1,000yds? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif Any parallax issues when the heavy mirage is on??? The ashfalt parking lot at the mall really makes the air dance on a hot summer day, so I need all the AO I can get... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since I don't reload (yet), what's your favorite factory ammo for long range? Is it available from Wally World in bulk packs? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This is a great site, and just got better since I joined /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

B.T.W...
I'm only looking for opinions that parallel my own. So if you don't agree, then with all due respect, go suck on a garden hose...

Thanks again..... in advance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Does CS include the UV solar shade and the F.L.G.R.D in the deal. For those not up to speed the F.L.G.R.D Will help with light glare inside large buildings that contain fluorescent lighting. It screws on like a sun shade, It has a special bulshitium coating, all testing with the new filter was done at Mall of America.

Fluorescent
Light
Glare
Refracting
Device

I was just wanting to know, I know the special is on the over run contract pieces, but this filter is a 250.00 extra, wondering if its included?

In a word, YES!
You can apply that toward any of the F.L.G.R.D. coatings. Bulshitium, crapolium, whatever it takes. And don't forget the A.B.O.R.T. option. Acronym for Anti Ballast Optical Radiation Technology, it complements the F.L.G.R.D like peanut butter does jelly! A 'must have' for any serious Ninja. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Remember, those mall fixtures can throw some serious gamma rays that could affect the ranging efficiency of the CS glass if left unfiltered. And those "in the know" realize that you can only get so far with Bulshitium /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And best of all, these coatings are also koolaidophilic, so they will shed Koolaid, or any other moisture (including frozen Slushies) away like Rainguard. This info has not been available to the general public until just now, so consider yourselves 'enlightened'...

So what is the common denominator with these problems??

Lack of knowledge and/or experience and or operator error.

- DAA

The limit is when there is no room left for the first quote in the very center.

I just wanted to see what it looked like on the reply page!

Contact the guy that makes the ammosmith movies on youtube. He fills them with the white phosporus tip off matchheads and reuses them.

A few more of these and I'll have to get a vertical monitor.

Hey Cat, did you ever think your thread would spin out of control like this?

Hows the weather back east?

Hey Fuzzy... I never could have guessed - and the weather sucks!

That's all well and good. But, I like bacon.

Which, by the way... "I like bacon" is an inside joke, pertaining specifically to some of what has been touched upon in this thread.

A large percentage of all the well meaning, but essentially clueless and therefore worthless replies to all technical questions on this forum, can be summmed up as "I like bacon".

Example:

Q: I just loaded some shells for my new rifle and it shoots like crap. What is wrong with my setup?

A: I like bacon.

Frankly, a large percentage, of all the answers, to all the technical questions on this forum, are about as relevant and helpful, as just saying "I like bacon".

The actually irritating part though, is that quite often, someone will reply, early on, with a helpful, factually correct, technically helpful response. But following that factually correct answer to the original question, will follow, sometimes dozens, of clueless replies, usually only peripherally related to the original question. Sadly, the original, question posing poster, will often end up going with whatever advice the majority of non-relevant, clueless responders have offered. Ignoring the earliest given, most accurate advice.

Hence... A couple of guys I know, group all such well meaning, yet clueless, not actually even relevant, but often revered responses as "I like bacon".

It's one of the reasons I rarely offer advice here.

I do like bacon though.

So what is the common denominator with these problems??

Lack of knowledge and/or experience and or operator error.

- DAA
