12 gage , nwtflogan was hoping to hear from you about one of the hunts we were discussing. if you are still interested let me know I can also be reached @ hnter1@yahoo.com. I have another post but i'll tell it here also went out sat. night and was trying to locate with a challenge from my bill austin howler "Randy Anderson" call and 2or 3 of em let er rip but they were a long way off on property I don't have permission to hunt I thought it would be better not to educate them and call it a night. What a thrill I have heard howls before but it still makes my hair stand up. " feel like little red ridding hood with an empty basket and a broken leg"

When are you thinking of going out again?? I went to WV last weekend where I grew up. I made 4 stands on Sun early, 1 in the dark and 3 during daylight hours. Thought for sure that I would be able to pull one out of it's den in an area where I have shot some during buck season but it didn't happen. I had a gray fox fly in on me on last stand. He was 80+ yards from me and of course I left the rifle home and only had the 12gauge. It was good to see that something responded to the caller though. Talk about eery. A friend of mine called in a 34 lb bobcat. I'd hate to have one of those come in the backdoor and mistake me for a rodent!!!!

maybe this weekend.
cat sounds like it would make my hair stand up.where did you live inWV I have hunted there a few times for deer.

Hey fellow yote hunters.

I figured I'd take up yote hunting this year. I have noticed since they started moving into the area that I hunt deer and turkey, the game population seem to have dropped. It's time I started thinning them out.

I plan on doing some night hunting and want to use a red light, but the hunting regs say:

"You cannot do the following:
Pursue, hunt, trap or snare furbearing animals between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. without use of a continuous white light visible for at least a 1/4 mile. Persons hunting fox or coyote with a call from a stationary position may use a single beam light. When two or more people are hunting or trapping together for these animals only one light is required and can be carried by any member of the party."

Is it legal in Ohio to use a red light?

Anyone get an answer?

You can run a red light on stand, but your supost to use a single beam white light when going to and from your stands, one of the mini mag lights works well. I talked to the local DNR man and this was the answer I got. Its not vary plain in the laws. And it may differ from local officers. Its just not very cut and dry in the laws.

Contact your local officer and ask him, what he thinks on this. I have hunted all over the state and never had no trouble but its best to ask the local DNR in your area.
