Utah hunters! (and anyone else who wants to play!)

That sounds PERFECT!!!!!! Put my name in the hat right now! I really like the idea of drawing names and areas...that sounds great. See you all there!

I'm in for this! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I was hoping for a little sooner, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif but that was probably be too unrealistic. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Good weekend!
Great area!
New freinds!
Killing coyotes!
I'm in for this! I'm in for this!
Where's my camo?

OK, who has been to Wendover lately, it's been 8+ years for me. What restaurant or Buffet do we want to meet at? Is the Copper Room still there (the old stateline if memory is clicking)Somebody pick one!

I will get a map of the area that we can mark up when we see how many teams we have show up.

Everyone will have to make there own reservations for accomodations, etc.

Man this is going to be fun!

Oh yea, we have a new member from Centerville, his board name is Dog Pounder - Welcome aboard DP.
Are you up for this one? (Brenda says she will watch the kids if the mrs is working).

My father and I go quite often to Wendover to hunt dogs. I know that the Rainbow Casino has a really good breakfast, we like to stop in there and fill up! Stateline also offers a pretty good breakfast, it's a little more expensive though. The Rainbow is right off of the exit to Wendover. After breakfast you can all split east and west on the freeway-some towards pilot mountain, others into the Nevada area.
If you have any questions let me know, I am pretty familiar with that area.

OK! I've done enough readin'. I'm puttin' my camo on too. This is my first post on this topic, but you can count me in on what ever you guys decide. Meeting in Wendover, drawing names for a hunt, it would be great to meet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I like Dogn's suggestion for Wendover on the weekend of Feb. 31. That sounds good to me.

I also think it would be a good idea to get together for eats before hand. It looks like the bulk of us are scattered from Logan to Utah Co. I should've guessed as much... but that puts a central location probably somewhere in the neighborhood of South Davis Co. or North Salt Lake Co. I'm game for anything, myself. I live in Kaysville, work in Salt Lake, so I've got the restraunt circuit around there down pretty good, which is unfortunately becoming painfully obvious in my physical experience. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

But if you want uncommonly good, down-home, good ol' fashioned, American cuisine, Doug and Emmy's on south Main Street in Layton is pretty hard to beat. Is this too far north for you south Salt Lake county and Utah county guys? I've been trying to think of a comparable place in Bountiful or Salt Lake and I'm coming up empty. Anywho... I figure a Saturday is best for most folks. This Saturday would work for me, I know it's not much notice, but given the frequency we all check into this site, it may be enough. I will be out of town on the 15th, but if you guys want to get something together then, more power to you.

So, here's my suggestion; we meet at Doug and Emmy's Restaurant, 200 S. Main St. Layton, UT (Phone if needed, 801-544-7607.) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2002. That place is jumpin' on Saturday morning through the noon hour. We'd have a better chance of getting sufficient seating, and minimizing our wait time, if we go in at 1:00 p.m. as oppossed to an earlier time. Whaddaya think?

Just FYI, Doug and Emmy's is in an old train station, white with black trim, at the above address, west side of the street, next door to a gas station and convienience store(either Chevron or Texaco, I can't remember for sure.). For you coming up from the south on I-15, simply take the very first Layton Exit (about 3/4 mile past the Kaysville Exit), this is a north-bound exit only, there is no corresponding south-bound exit. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left at the light, onto Main St. Proceed north on Main up and over the viaduct. As you come off the viaduct, you'll see the restaurant before you and to your left.

For you south-bounders, take the Layton Exit just south of the Layton Hill Mall. Turn right at the light at the end of the ramp, move immediately to your left to get into the turn lane. Turn left onto Main St. Proceed south for probably 1.5 miles, it'll be on you right, not far past the intersection of Gentile Rd. and Main.

Sorry for the length, but I thought if this was going to happen, I needed to get all the info out ASAP.

Email me at either jhans90@hotmail.com or jasonhansen@mail.weber.edu with questions, concerns, or smart-alec remarks.

[qb]Dog'n I would meet up with folks in Wendover (or Snowville) to hunt for a day or weekend. If we are in agreement to start early and search for new hunting spots, it really shouldn't spoil anyone's secret spot. From my previous Nevada experience there is no shortage of places to hunt. A couple of weekends ago I drove Hwy 93 between Jackpot and Wells. In the early dawn hours, I found 5 groups of dogs by simply howling from the shoulder (never left the highway). Then spent the rest of the day going back and hunting them.[/qb]
Ever go out to Kimama, or Owinza. That gravel road that goes to Richfield off of Hi. 24? Lot of dogs out there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hey guys I don't want to upset anybody from the great state of UT but my Brother up in Malad says you could just go to your newest state park, Idaho............LOL sorry I been waiting to use that on somebody and it peers to be a bunch of you utes here. Just having some fun the calling has been real slow here but should pick up now a foot of snow and -25 helps Joe

Yeah, I spoz' the best time to visit the new state park is when all the Idahoans are heading out to do their shopping in Idaho's biggest and best shopping and buisness district, also known as Utah. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I honestly can't wait for this to go down! If we have to wait until feb 31st we'll be waiting ALONG TIME!!!! As far back as I can remember, there are usually only 28 days in this short little month....sometimes 29? Just wondering! I'm sure we all mean the last week end of the month right?

Just checking!

Hey does anyone know if spotlighting is leagal in nevada?

Later!

doooopppppp............. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I got so excited about going, the date didn't even register on me! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Lunch at Doug & Emmy's is a great primer. I'll be there at 1pm,,,,,,,ya, thats 1300 for you guys that can't get the military off your mind.!.!(no disrespect intended)

I've just been diagnosed with Vertabratramatricidophobia --
the irrational fear of causing spinal damage to your mother by stepping on a crack in the sidewalk

Sorry if I threw any of you guys off with the date. I was looking at January....
It would be a llllloooooonnnnnggggg wait if we had to wait for the 31st to get here.
If I am not out shooting dogs and freezing my arse off, I will be at D&E's at 1:00

I don't want to burst bubbles and I'm not really sure how much it matters, but yesterday I spoke with ADC in Elko. The fellow I spoke with said they were hunting the area between Wells and Wendover fairly hard right now?????

Hey Dogn, Sounds great to me. I'll see if I can round up some topo maps of that area aprox. 25-50 miles radius to divide into hunting areas to be drawn out of a hat. Thanks for taking the reigns on this thing, let me know how I can help. I'm looking forward to meeting all you fellow varminters.

Hey crowTrobot

Thanks one of these days I'll try over near Richfield etc... Don't forget to sign up for the contest at Blue Lakes sports this weekend. What a chance to go have fun and maybe win $500.00.

Hey guys!

We're on for Doug and Emmy's tommorrow, Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1300 hours! I will be there! I'm not sure what kind of turn-out to expect, as Dogn and coyteeee are the only ones to specifically say they'd be there. But whether we have three or thirty, It'll be nice to meet whoever shows up.

Give me a call at 589-3848 if there are any questions or anything. I suppose I'd better tell y'all what to look for, so's you can find me. I'll tell the hostess that if any wild-eyed, camo-clad, onery types come in muttering something about predator hunting, to send 'em my way. But, failing that, I'll be the ruggedly handsome gentleman in $600 wool suit, beaking the hearts of hopeful women throughout the resteraunt, as they see my wedding band... O.K., I'm lying through my teeth, but just a little... Alright, a lot, I'm lying a lot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I'm 6'2", kind of a big, burly guy. I'm 30 years old (whatever that looks like) with brown hair, but I'll be wearing a white University of Wyoming ball cap, with a brown and gold ensignia and clean shaven. Call me if there are any questions.

Scott B., Baboom, Buster, DAA, BCarter.... all you other Utah guys, you up for lunch?

bigc, no spotlighting isn't legal in Nevada according to the sheriff we talked to in Wendover the last time I hunted that area. After talking and smoozing him for awhile he said "ah go ahead, I don't think anybody will bother you". We half wondered if he was setting us up but since nobody did bother us guess he was being straight. We hunted west of Pilot peak all the way to Montello and saw a few coyote tracks but didn't call in a single dog so good luck. Think alot of calling goes on out there. Think it's a real popular area with alot of us who want to get of the Wasatch front to call dogs.

Scattergunner, the lunch get together sounds great, wish I could make it. But I'm afraid I can't get up there tomorrow.

- DAA

My wife and I are having our second kid tghis weekend so I think I'm staying home this time....I'm infor wendover though!
