Alright guys i can finally contribute to this thread!~

i woke up this morning and went out about 530 am and had a tom about 100 yards in the roost still gobbling his head. a few soft yelps and a fly down cackle with my hat later he flew off his roost and circled behind me until he was up on a hill some 45 yards out. he WOULD NOT come to me down hill, but he strutted and gobbled and double gobbled until he just gave up and walked away and thats when i took a shot and missed.

around 4ish i was walking an old logging/oil road when i stopped to yelp as a locator with my hillbilly calls white lightning mouth call i heard a gobble 10 yards from me in the field. i fell back 100 yards or so and crawled under the barb wire. I was on a hill and he was in full strut by a hen. She would lie down and he would stand on her but she kept getting up. I DID NOT call because they were already moving my way and i didnt want them to pin point me. Gobbler got to about 35 yards when he poked his neck out and the mag blend hevi 13 did thier job.

he was strutting along the fence line under the cedars as shade.
1 inch spurs 9 1/2 inch beard and we guessed he weighed in the low 20's. His wing feathers were completely worn down from strutting.

Nice bird. I got a guy I'm taking out on the 8th so I might have a pic If we get lucky. Thinking on boating a bird. River is flooded and there is some large tracks of land blocked off by open water. Then a week after that I got my old biology teacher to take out, if thats still the plan. Then my cousin, and then one more at the end of the season. Don't think I'm even going to make it out myself. But if I'm out and calling them in I'm happy.

Congratulations Bob, & lon!

Looks like another good year Cuttn! Big thick beard on that top one too! Congrats, & glad you like the calls!

Congrats to all. I took this bird yesterday. Sneaked in to glass a field where he struts, saw him alone, backed into the timber, set up and he was in my lap in a hurry. The 20 gauge 3" Hevishot 5s dumped him like a bag of fertilizer. Gotta love those 5 minute turkeys.

Well went out with the old man this morn and called this one in for him. Only 18 pounds but after a long hard winter and chasing girls this spring they are low on body fat.
Has a real rusty color on the fan.

Beard was 9 1/4" but as you can see half of it's gone and you can see whats left has a pinch in it. Not sure what that is from.

Only 7/8" spurs

Going out to try to call one in for an old teacher of mine tomorrow.

went out this morning and heard ZERO gobbles!~ i think they are pretty much done with most breeding activity here. the season ends the 8th and i predicted they would stop strutting the 3rd. Even though i got a bird this has been a horrible season and the worst opening day out of anything i have hunted. bad weather and henned up gobblers.

Had a tom all hot and bothered about 200-250 yards from us. Gobbled back to the call and was strutting his way to us when a coyote tried to bum rush him. Think the tom flew to the next county. Thought we might get the coyote but he winded us.

This season has been bad up here also. Cold, rain, snow, wind and below freezing in the mornings most of the season. Seems like they are just now starting to get fired up. Will be back at it in the am.

Here is my gobbler
