Here is my stand during the day, it is exactly 255 yards to the slash pine treeline on the far side and 225 yard to the small live oak with my game cam and feeder straight out ahead:

Here is the same shot using my Olight M-3X XML White Led scorching throw light:

Like I said, that smaller 50 foot high live oak is exactly 225 yards out via Leopold Laser Rangefinder and the slash pines behind it are 255 yards....

I used the same F-stop and the same shutter speed on all of the above night photos. You can see that the Olight M-20 Crimson Red gives more spill than the KLR-250 Red Led does, but the KLR-250 Red Led has a tighter throw since its reflective cone is so much more deeper. If I put a smooth reflective cone into the Olight M-20 Crimson it matches the throw of the KLR-250 Red Led but I lose allot of the spill.

Ditto for the Olight M-3X White Led with the Green Filter compared to the KLR-250 with the Green Led.

They are all excellent hunting torches.

The Olight M-20 is a serious bad arse Mil-Spec torch, check this torture test out.

You don't have to worry about the recoil from a 12 gauge if it takes a 12 gauge direct blast and still keeps shining....

Skypup, for those of us that can't mortgage the house to buy rings, is there an alternative that you've looked at that still has the rail on top of the rings? I took a peek at Ebay and found some but didn't know about their quality. These are going on a Savage .22 mag to mount my XLR 250. What kind of light mount are you using and how high do you think it would have to be to clear a 40mm scope?

kel, you will have to make certain that your light will clear you scope and barrel and not intrude into your field of view blocking your line of sight. I cannot provide you with the proper dimensions for your individual setup, you will have to configure that out yourself.

You should try going to Amazon.com and checking out some of UTG's Picitanny Ring Mounts and accessories if cost is a higher priority than quality. It should not be a problem building a high powered LED flashlight platform for your scope or rail mount, you just need to figure it out on your own end.

i have a few utg items and imo they are a good product...skypup great post man thanks. the latest pictures have really helped out in deciding which light to start out with. have started night hunting this year and am hooked. may never go in the light again unless there is one in the field begging to get shot. just having lighting issues now. and in need of major upgrading. question...the mx3 is saying it has a runtime of fifteen hours on one set of batteries. is that statement pretty accurate?

Yeah, all the UTG rail accessories seem to be good to go and not real expensive either.

Everyone should have at least one Olight M-20X Crimson Red LED in their nightpack bag because it will be used more than any other light.

Glad to have been of some assistance getting someone started out too!

My night light photos do not really do justice to the real picture in your minds eye, you have to actually use them yourself to really see how well they perform in person, use the photos as a guide.

SkyPup I don't see a pressure switch in your pics for the Crimson, but I thought I would ask if you do have one for it? When I got my Crimson, I got a pressure switch for an M20, but after it wouldn't work on the Crimson, I found out it was only for the M20 Warrior. I modified it and it now works great, but I have friends who want a complete ready to go setup without having to rip the tailcap apart and solder in a jumper.

No, I have no need for a pressure switch, my M-20 Crimson is weapon mounted on the rail right next to my left thumb and I use my thumb with no problem.

I do have a pressure switch for my other M-20X and M-21X Cree XML white LED torches and tried it out and decided NOT to use it due to the wiring getting hung up on branches on my rifle while I was walking through the woods at night. I have no use for wires on my rifles.

Nice that you were able to modify the switch to work on the Crimson through...

The Olight M-20 Crimson puts 225 pounds of fresh boar BACON on the table tonight!
