Come on guys, if you read this post it up, I'm curious who and how many of you uses what as your favorite go to rifle you've used or have. Not what you think is the most versatile or best cartridge, just your favorite rifle to grab for deer. I've owned half a dozen top deer rifle calibers, but I have a clear favorite. Every site is different as to which is a clear favorite, I saw one site where everyone seems to like a 30-06 by 50%, another where guys are way more in favor of something else.

add yours or update the totals if the caliber is already listed. 6mm separate from .243...

When I want meat, I typically go by way of a 50 caliber 245gr. Powerbelt out of my T/C Omega muzzleloader powered by 100gr. of 777 pellets. I get the most weeks of the year to hunt with it and the early season hits right in the rut. It is accurate and puts the hammer on a deer.

But, since the theme seem to be centerfire, then it is my Model 7 Remington in 7mm08 running a mild mannered load with a 140gr. Sierra Game King. The gun is short and sweet, the caliber is efficient and mild when it comes to blast and recoil. Shots rarely exceed 100yds for me and this seems to fit the bill around these mountains.

No not really if they are close I just shot the neck or head, but behind the shoulder it seems less than my 270

My #1 lately is an A-Bolt 'Micro-Medallion' in 284 Winchester. I have several 243s & 308s in reserve.

I use my Knight 'Elite' much of the time too, when a M-L is called for.

H&R .44 mag. Mossy oak infinity camo with matching camo Nikon prostaff BDC. One of the more accurate and longer firearms that are legal for deer hunting in Indiana

Remington LSS Mtn. Rifle in .260. Shoots and handles very well and its light and easy to carry. Long list of friends and family who have used it sucessfully on deer and antelope.

Savage model 10 predator 22-250 is what I use most. I have a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. that I bring out about every 3-4 years just for old times sake.
