So many special memories over the years, its hard to pick one, but I always am in awe when blessed to witness God's replenishment of the various species occuring throughout the various species this time every year.
Drove up on this scimitar horned oryx giving birth right next to a two track. She remained completely unseen in the tall grass until the truck was within 10 yards or so, jumped up and patiently coaxed her new calf into the brush across the two track. When she made their presents known, I immediately backed out as quickly as I could and still had time to get the camera in action. Notice how unsteady the calf is on his feet and the mother's afterbirth still present. Mama had to stop several times to let Jr catch up. Awesome experience but makes one feel like an intruder.
Have witnessed many examples of God's creatures replenishing their species, but these were a bit after the fact.
Came across this young Gemsbok calf while mom was out for breakfast. Slipped in a grabbed a quick pic while watching over my shoulder in case mom came back!
Mama obviously told this fawn to stay put as she was no where to be seen
Thanks! What we as outdoorsmen witness is incredible. I look forward to every outing and always find joy in even the smallest of blessings. There’s a lot out there to enjoy!Great story, some of my most memorable moments have been out hunting/fishing and watching various animals play out their role. Keep us posted for the rest of your turkey outings.
