IF You Had ONLY 2 Caliber's to use For Varmints/Predator's..What

My choices would be .17 HMR and .204 Ruger. I've got both and love them. They both shoot flat and straight, and will reach out and touch prairie dogs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Here in Eastern Missouri where most of my shots are 100 yards or less:
.223 (Model Seven) and .22 WMR (77/22).

I was reviewing this thread and came across this post by "Me". Sure brings back good memories of her /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif and I miss her posts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif. IMHO, she has it right, if I could have only two guns, these are it. I could kill anything from a field mouse to a grizzly bear with one of them.

223 and 6mm-284 now...

Would like a 17HMR barrel for my T/C Contender carbine.

Would like to know more about the new 17 Fireball that Remington is about to introduce as well.

Since we are not calling the 12Ga a caliber. I will say the 17HMR cause it's so darn much fun inside 150 yards. The 22-250 is complete carnidge beyond 150 yards.

SEMPER-FI Keepum out of the wire!

Hands down 243 and 12 ga. There isnt a game animal in my neck of the woods I cant take with these two guns. In fact bith my Rem 700 and Rem 870 are in the truck anytime I go calling.

I started shooting rifles back in the late 1940s and started reloading ammo during 1952 year. Over the years I have looked for the perfict varmint rifle round. So far I have used the 17 HM2, 17 HMR, 17 Rem, 204 Ruger, 22LR, 22WMR, 22 Hornet,221 Rem, 222 Rem, 223 Rem, 220 Swift, 243 Win.and 25-06 rifles. I plan on trying out the new Rem 17 Fireball when it comes out. For prairie dog shooting the two would be the 17 HMR and .204 Ruger. For coyotes the 203 Rem and the 220 Swift. For varmints bigger than coyotes the 243 Win.and 25-06 Rem. Any gun nut knows that haveing only two varmint rifles will always let you wondering about the other rounds.
