2 or 4 would be great, as well as it will still work just fine for prairie dogs. I dont think the prairie dogs care about the color.

For my eye, a white forearm with decreasing frosting so it ends up at a black butt would look cool. Either with just white paint or with decreasing webbing.

I'd go for the white webbing. If doesn't turn out to your satisfaction, you still have all your other options to try on top of it.
