Obama exec action to ban 5.56 ammunition

Quote:like that's ever been a problem yet...Until we get some elected officials with the testiculos to stop him, especially those like Boehner, and other committee members to push it, nothing will be done to him and he still has the next 22 months to create havoc...

I think the ban on these was intended to run those companies out of business. Also to start a scare and shortage.

The reason is that if you have a contract to supply the ammo, they have the right as the buyer in the contract to test the lot as its being sent. If it doesn't meet the standards, they reject it. Then the maker would just sell it as bulk. Still fine for shooting.
But if you make it illegal to sell, then you as the maker have nothing you can do with it and have to destroy it. Which in my opinion is what we will find out in the years to come is what they were doing with it in the first place.. (because they are putting it in a warehouse and after time they will dump it) I also think that the stories about homeland security BP agents not having ammo to qualify is another indication that this is what they are up to.

Tinfoil hat kind of stuff, but after other things that i have been seeing, is it really that far out of the relm of possibility after what is happening for the last 6 years.

The 80-some thousand comments received by ATF plus some letters to congress managed to tip the balance.

Some behind the scene "How the sausage was made":

Texas State Rifle Association

Congressman John Culberson (R-Harris Co) Says Repeal of Ammo Ban Immediate and Permanent!

Half an hour ago, Congressman John Culberton (R-Harris Co) called TSRA and asked that we get the message out to our members.
The ban on green tip ammo has been repealed and it's gone for good!

Congressman Culberson chairs a committee with direct influence over BATF and was able to convince those within the agency to remove the ban. We were also told that the ban was actually the first of several. All part of a "research project" designed to review many types of common ammunition which might be armor-piercing.

God Bless the Texas Delegation and God Bless Congressman John Culberson who remembers TSRA members sent him to Congress many years ago and took a moment to call.

And as always,
Keep the faith.

80,000 plus e-mails, and tens of thousands of letters to Senators and Congressmen, and thus 250+ Congressmen signed the letter to BATF, and 52 Senators signed the letter to BATF.

I'm guessing they decided they maybe stepped off in some deep puckey there!!

This is a good example of how making your opinion known to government is supposed to work!

Actually it doesn't surprise me much they rolled over on the ban... Boehner signed off on funding the ILLEGAL ALIENS executive order, so the crisis is over.

National Association for Gun Rights Doubles ATF M855 Ammo Ban Comments

132,000 petitions more than doubles the number the ATF claims to have received so far
Fredericksburg, Va.- The National Association for Gun Rights announced that it hand delivered
132,662 petitions to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), more than
doubling the number of public comments the agency has received so far in response to its proposed
ban on M855 ammunition.
The petitions, all in opposition to the ban, were collected online beginning when the ATF proposed
the ban on February 14, and delivered on Friday despite the agency’s decision to hold off on the
proposal last week.
“It’s a delay tactic, period,” said NAGR President Dudley Brown, “By going around Congress to
ban ammunition, the BATF bit off more than they could chew, and they knew it. They didn’t say
they’re giving up on the ammo ban, only that they’re going to wait and try a different approach once
things quiet down.”
While the M855 Ammunition ban may be on hold at the ATF -- for now -- the proposal has by no
means been defeated.
Also on Friday, Congressional Democrats issued an appeal to the ATF, urging the agency to
reconsider their push to ban this common .223 caliber ammunition, which is used in tens of
thousands of legally owned rifles.
Additionally, four Democrats have introduced the ban as an anti-gun bill in Congress.
“President Obama and Congressional Democrats are worried they don’t have the votes to outright
ban guns, so they’re coming after ammo. It’s that simple,” stated Brown, “the four million members
and supporters of the National Association for Gun Rights will be there to oppose any Federal
restrictions on ammunition proposed in Congress or by the BATF now, and in the future.”
Monday is the final day for the original comment period.
