Rifle building cost?

need to know what action, barrel and stock you prefer...then its easier to do research yourself on paper...everyone is different on what they want and desire...cheapest bet would be a savage...it would still be around 1000.00 before scope

My bad! Yes I was thinking about going with a savage action and I'm not real picky when it comes to stock and the barrel needs to be easy handling but someone hefty so it can be used as a calling an also a bench gun. Thinking 22" roughly. And also would a 243AI roughly cost the same?

far as stocks depends on what action you have(centerfeed or staggered feed,DBM or drop plate..LA or SA)and so on
could also do a custom order but would have to wait is all

BTW jim briggs is the man, nothing but good to say about him

Okay thanks! Or would I be better off buying an over the counter 223 or 243 and take it to the gunsmith and have him turn it into the AI?

go with a LA so you can seat the bullets out farther,if you go single shot you can use a SA,but i would go LA for repeater...make sure you get the right bolt head though...which would be 308,243,22-250 and 7mm08 for SA,LA would be 25-06,270 and 30-06....most the new ones will be centerfeed stocks or DBM or hinged fore plate....easiest and most choices would be blind magazine centerfeed that way you can get a B&C duramaxx for little over 100 dollars

Yea I get it! Would that matter if I'm using a lighter bullet. In example 70 grain bullet. I wanna use a lighter bullet for coyotes.

Okay sounds good. I'm just throwing around the AI idea. Might end up going with a regular 243 or 6mm. Was originally thinking a 223 AI would be neet but that would be to much like my 22-250 I think.

I built something a bit heavier caliber but:

Original Rem rifle: $589.00
Jewell trigger: $200.00
Kreiger barrel from Bruno's: $400.00
Reamer from Pacific Tool & Guage: $175.00
Cost to rebuild: $1750.00
Stock from Numrich Arms: $100.00
Shipping: $100.00
Total: $3314.00

Now add the $1350.00 for the NF scope: $4664.00. It can get spendy.

Barrel, reamer, and stock include shipping.

I bought a used Sako Vixen on gunbroker and put a new Krieger 223 AI barrel on it. The gun is lightweight and has a sterling action. Total cost was $1600. I can sell the original barrel and recoup about $400 plus the Vixen came with a peep site that goes in the neighborhood of $100. I want to keep the original parts so the gun can be sold to a collector at a later date like when I kick the bucket.

I've killed in the neighborhood of 15 or 16 coyotes with it and it's my favorite rifle to carry on stand. I will confess that I use my Sako Forester 22-250 more often for the extra punch but I still love the Vixen.

Thanks guys! I think I am either gonna try and find a 6mm or have one built or just go with a regular 243. Since I plan on using a lighter bullet I feel I don't really need the extra speed from the AI

I just built a 223 AI this year so here is my rundown;

Stiller Tac30 action $950
Rock Creek 8 twist barrel $330
Manners T3 stock $478
Reamer and gauges from PTG $175
Stealth bottom metal from PTG $130
2-10 round AICS mags $70
Jewell trigger $225
Custom bolt knob $35
Smithing services $400
Cerakote barreled action from Kampfeld $165

That brings us to $2958. Then there is scope rings and base.

NF 3.5-15x50 $1575
Seekins base $100
Seekins rings $129

So my grand total is $4762, and that's still not counting in any shipping costs to send parts back and forth. So the skys the limit!!

remington 700 450
ceg bolt 265
jewel 225
mcm htg 600
krieger 300
gunsmith 400
total 2240

that includes bottom metal badger lug and glass bedding...

prices are endless depending on what you want you can go stiller or surgeon and add 450-600 bucks..
