I would like to hear if the 358 STA hammered other critters.
No, it was a one and done. After that hunt, I decided there was no such thing as too much gun for big bears.
Plus, not that I had any plans for another BB hunt, I was somewhat interested in going for Cape Buffalo.
Naturally, the only logical thing to do was to go bigger, so I sold the STA & bought 700 Custom Shop 416 RM.
That thing would shoot 325 grain Barnes at 2800 into an inch. It did manage to wreck a Leupold 6.5-20 in the process.
I also bought a bullet mold to cast 350 grainers that shot at 1800 or so for a plinking load.
Ultimately, I decided I would rather go to Alaska again rather than Africa, so I sold the gun to a guy that was in need of a last minute buffalo gun.
So my gun did actually shoot a buff, although I wasn't the one that got to pull the trigger.
My big boomers are behind me now, as my biggest in the safe is a 6.5x47 Lapua.
