Do you have to have all your components and send them to a smith or do they carry some? Reason I ask is seems like you can find barrels here and there but finding a stiller or bighorn seems tougher. Do some smiths have actions put back for builds?

Thread Update....Since this is a 'work in progress' and specifically for a limited number of involvement, I'll be going back through the last five pages and deleting all posts that are not specific to a custom built rifle...General discussions should be handled via Private Message and general comments should be avoided..

Also, please avoid reposting using Quotes, an entire post including photos..It tends to confuse those searching for something specific..

Specific questions regarding a specific build will remain...Hope any members that have previously posted are not offended if your posts are deleted, but the intent is to keep it clean and informative...If you have any constructive suggestions, please send me a PM on the matter, rather than posting on this thread....OT

Is there any significant gain going with spiral fluting over straight? Other then it looks cool? In my head it seems like it could possibly cool faster? Or am i just crazy?

It would seem that spiral vs straight fluting would give slightly more distance/surface for heat dissipation, but whether it would actually have a measurable effect on the process, would probably be questionable....

See that's what i was thinking, that there would be more surface area fluted, thus more cooling. But as you said OT, whether or not its a significant gain, if any would be questionable.
