What is Your Favorite Coyote Bullet & Why?

Just wondering what everyone's favorite bullets are for coyote hunting and why. Also, what grain, caliber, and cartridge.

I use either 52gr Hornady match hollow points or 55/53gr Vmax's in my .22-250 and .223's. Berger 80gr in my .243 WSSM, and 110gr Vmax or 168gr Hornady match hollow points in my .308.

6.5mm 95gr V-Max in a 264WM.... It speaks with authority

I haven't shot enough coyotes with a variety of bullets to say if one works better than another. However, I have tried two different ones that worked great, both of them.

75 gr. Sierra HP in a 6x45 - My most often used one, accurate, always penetrates completely, not excessive exit wound, never had one get away from that load, bobcats as well.

60 gr. V-Max in a .223 - puts 'em down

Both were used in ARs.

I like the 69 smk in 223...In my experience I have had the least amount of runners with this bullet and not alot of damage to the hide. I also like the 60 vmax and 60 Nosler BT, with the nod going to the BT, just because I have made a mess of a couple dogs with the vmax. I tried my 243 load awhile back and the 80 Berger FB was a yote anchor...bang,flop, but it was only one so time will tell.

Are you talking fur friendly or not?

Fur Friendly DRT.......17 Rem. 25gr. Nagel T-000.

Not Fur Friendly DRT........30-06 165gr. Nosler Partition.

I have posted this before - I have selected these based on accuracy and terminal performance.

22-250 - Sierra 55 grain SBT @ 3650fs

244AI - Nosler 70 grain BT @ 3850fs

257AI - Hornady 75 grain Vmax @ 3650fs

B..

Just one bullet is hard to pick, just like, just one chamber would be hard to pick. I have three favorites, in three different calibers.

.224 diam. Sierra 55gr #1360. It shoots well in almost every rifle regardless of twist rate, or chambering, and it just plain works well on coyotes.[222 Rem,223 Rem,222 Rem Mag,22-250 Rem,220 Swift.]

.243 diam. Sierra 80gr SBT Blitz #1515. This bullet will anchor any coyote anywhere. The harder you drive it the nastier it gets. DRT, and they group real well.[6mm Rem mostly, and 243 Win.]

.257 diam Nosler 85gr B-T. When I really need to put a hurt on [for whatever reason] out of the 25-06 this bullet on coyotes is bang, mist. Wicked fast, accurate, and plain nasty.

Both! I was thinking for prime pelts I would use the most fur friendly bullets I can. For non-prime furs, I don't care about the mess and would prefer to do the most possible damage with no regard for the pelt if you know what I mean!

55 grain V-Max works great in both my 223 Rock River AR and Rem 700 VSSF II, 22-250.

22-250, 34.5gr. of Varget, Chrono speed 3424fps
223, 25.5gr. of H-4895, Chrono speed 3120fps

My 6x45 the 65g vmax @ 3053 fps & 58g V & Zmax 3232 fps
My .223 the 50g vmax, 3400 fps
My .243 58g V & Zmax, 3800 fps
WHY...because they are accurate as all get out and drop a coyote in its tracks.

I've killed more coyotes with a Winchester .270win. 130gr. Power Point than anything else.

I also really like Nosler 55gr. BST and 95gr. BST in .22-250rem. and .243win. respectively.

Anything that's relatively close.

Specificaly though
85gr Nosler BT in 25-06 kinda sad they are no longer being made.
120gr Nosler BY in 7mm-08 AI switching to Hornady 162gr Amax right now
165gr Nosler BY or Accubond in 30-06
95gr Nosler BY in 243
55gr Nosler BY or Sierra GK in 22-250
55gr Monarch sp's from Academy it's hard not to shoot really cheap stuff when it holds 1moa or better.

100gr NBT in 264 WM
70gr NBT or SBK in 243 wssm
125gr NBT in 300 wssm
55 grn NBT or SBK in 22-250
39gr SBK in 204

Killing coyotes isnt pretty and these bullets help keep it that way.

Sierra 75gr. HP from the end of my 25-06.
They just die, NEVER had a runner.
I've found if you shoot high behind the rib cage, you can ALMOST cut them in two.
