That's definitely a cat. Sounds aggravated. The cat you heard could have been in heat or in a confrontation. Im no pro and id contact rainshadow if you want to talk to a guy that is a pro when it comes to cougar vocals. He posted in this thread
 
Thanks for the reply . I heard it several years ago and found the sound wave on Partners in ryhme . They have about any sound you can think of and it is free downloads

. I have searched and searched to see if any other cat makes that sound . I would like to also find out what what type of call it is . Doesn't sound attractive to me , so I am thinking it is not a mating call ...

Thanks , I am relieved to find out bobcats make that sound also . A knowledgeable member PMed me and informed me . Bobcats are not even close to being as dangerous as a cougar/mountain lion .
