Tohono O'odham reservation

I was just wondering for you AZ residents, what is the situation on the reservation southwest of Tuscon with regards to hunting? I know they welcome you on the San Carlos with the right license, is this one similar?

I googled it, but all the hits seem to be about baskets or border fences. ;(

Thanks for the info.

There was a time, when ....... But, that's another story.

The Papago Pima's are not as open and welcoming as the Apaches at San Carlos. I've been told that hunting is restricted to tribal members only, and that the only way to hunt that Rez is to hire a tribal member as a "guide", and it's not cheap.

There are four Tohono O’odham reservations: Tohono O’odham, Gila Bend, San Xavier, and Florence Village, and cover a total of 2,854,881 acres.

For hunting and fishing opportunities in Unit 38, contact:

Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation
P.O. Box 837
Sells, AZ 85634
(520)383-2028, (520)383-2366, or (520)383-4385

Just remember, if you are trespassing or hunting on Tohono O’Odham Land you are subject to Tribal Laws, and you better hope you have a permit to be there. Oh, and watch out for the Shadow Wolves. They're good guys, but more like Stealth Cops.

I've heard stories of how it used to be also. I like to call some areas near the Tohono O'odham. You DO NOT want to get caught hunting there. The sad part of hunting those areas is all the trash left behind where illeagals meet up with their "coyote".

I glad I didn't start this one. Shadow Wolves? Yeah, they lurk on the internet also. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The DHS has been having some clashes with the Tribal police there. It seems the DHS does not like the lack of "political correctness" the Tohonos display when they capture and arrest UIA's trespassing on their land.

Just for the record, here's an example of the DHS being "politically correct".

You mean "Expert Shadow Wolves" don't you?

Hi Danny.

AZMike,
The trash continues all the way up to Casa Grande. It's horrible. More than once, I've sat on a stand and discovered illegals hiding nearby. I'd vote to have the illegals we do happen to catch be made to pick a trail to walk all the way back, picking up trash that they and others left behind.

Howdy Jay, We have the same problem right here in southern NM with illegals when it comes to trash.
They are turning the U.S. into a 3rd World country and nothing is being done about it.
