The older NV scopes (M845, PVS4, etc)

Most of my hunting is forest and unless we are set up in a pasture all shots are less than 100 yds. I can tell the difference between a red or gray fox or coon with the nv at the ranges I hunt. The flir will let me know something is there but usually cant tell what it is unless it is close. I made a helmet mount years ago but don't usually wear it, I will scan with the Flir for a while and then switch to a red headlight. I think the red light will spook many coyotes and if I use ir with the nv sometimes they notice that. I would like to try a breach but it sounds like many do not think they are very good.

If most of your shots are under 100 yards, the Super Hogster may be too much magnification for your usage. Going to a Hogster 35 or something similar or even a Hogster 25 would be fine for those ranges.
