Savage LRP .243

IMR4064 w/58g V-Max works great in my semi-auto.
For a Marlin XS7 I use Accurate 4350 and 95g Nosler/CT, or a 100g Sierra with good results.
If you do a search of old post I think you will find IMR 4064 is a very popular powder but there are a few others too.
My R25 seem to work best w/ the IMR4064 regardless of bullet weight.

H414 Nosler BT 70gr pills I can't remember the powder charge off the top of my head. I have shot everything from goundhogs to deer with this load. Not my normal deer rifle but had to use it one day when my dad had my 308.

LRP - i hope to see a range report soon. i shoot I4064 and varget for accuracy (55-88 gr) . i/h4350 (95-100gr) for a little more speed.sakos and remingtons.

Why the slower powder with the lighter bullets and faster with heavy? Seems backwards to me?

The Nosler 70BT was the first bullet I ever found to shoot amazing in my Tikka. For me and a buddy both, we were running 48.1 and 47.7 of Reloder 19 with CCI primers at 2.620/2.625. But just within the past week in coming back around to this bullet again, I got an even better result (accuracy & speed) with 46.5 of IMR-4350 using WLR's and seating .005-.008 off, which translates to 2.800" OAL or just slightly under (2.8 being max magazine length. comparator measurement is 2.345).

So 3,250 with those RL19 loads. 3,385 fps now with IMR-4350.

I've had a lot of good input from people on this website, and thru following their advice and trial and error, feel better about this load now than any I've tried to-date in my 243win.

The rifle has a 1-9.25 twist. I ordered some 85 grain gamekings, 90 grain Blitzkings and some 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. I also got my Dad to get me some brass hoping for some Hornady brass he brings home a 100 Lapua Match grade 243 so oh ya! Do you guys think this gun will stabilize the longer vld match bullets like in 105's or 107's?

I shoot the berger target 108's (non-vld) in my factory barreled rem model 7 with the same twist rate as yours. They stabilize just fine. The only way to know is to try them out and see.

I've always had the best accuracy jammed with VLD's.Since your rifle is mag fed I'm gonna assume your not interested in single feeding.Find the distance to your lands and go from there. The VLD's may shoot with your twist rate right now but if temps drop low this winter it may not be fast enough to stabilize.IMR4350 and cci200's have always done me well with the .243.

Aubrey- i went through a whole box of 95gr vld and could get them to shoot in a vls. maybe the 105 hornady but maybe not. for sure the 88 and 87 berger and the 87 horn bthp.can't wait for a range report.

I have a browning A bolt in 243 with a 1/10" barrel. I gravitate to larger bullets for better BC, as the cost difference between a 55gr and a 70gr is less than $.01

Here is my load data (some are max loads, I will indicate which) These loads are straight out of the nosler manual and can now be found on nosler's website as well.

IMR4895 35.5gr, Nosler BT 95gr, Primer CCI200, OAL 2.680", group = .443" *Max Load
IMR4895 39gr, Nosler BT Varmit 80gr, Primer CCI200, OAL 2.680", group = .699" *Max Load
IMR4895 40gr, Nosler BT Varmit 70gr, Primer CCI200, OAL 2.680", group = .827" *Max Load

I am testing some Hornady 105s right now and through two powders, RL19, RL22, it doesn't like them... its a bit long for the 1/10" barrel.

I am also testing IMR4350 with 70gr, 80gr, and 95gr, and Vihta Vuori N560 with 95gr. And I have some Nosler 90gr etips to play with also.. Just waiting for the temps to cool back down.

After I finish these, i will start playing with seating depth. My .243 chamber measures at 2.175" to ogive with 70, 80, and 95gr Noser BT bullets and a sinclair seating depth gauge/comparator.

I track my load data using google drive. It makes it very handy and available any where i can get a cell signal.... and its free

HV100 with 105 berger and 105 amax in savage model 10 predator hunter max1. 41g amax and 40.5 berger, win brass. Fed 210m, 20 thousands off.
9.25 twist and will hurt feelings at the 1000 yard range

Yes that's the same twist rate I have in mine. Can I load those longer bullets in the factory magazine? That's one of the reasons why I purchased the LRP instead of the LRPV. I really didn't want a single shot although this rifle is so big I don't think it will ever be hunted with. Unless I get the opportunity to shoot some whistle pigs or prairie dogs! I have some 85 grain Sierra Gameking HP BT and 95 grain Nosler Ballistic tips but the 87 grain VLD SAAMI bullet looks interesting? I will get a few more types of pills to shoot out of this rifle. I am really looking forward to seeing how this rifle shoots. What about the lighter weight bullets how do they perform 3 to 500 yards?

I really need to get some different powders as well as the only powders I have right now I can use for the .243 is varget and rl-15.

I have the model 10 I referenced above in 243 and the LRP in 260. You should have no problem loading any bullet long. (I don't)
My 243 will shoot bug holes with any grain bullet and powder. I'm not bragging just stating fact.
I tried Sierra 75g hp with IMR 3031using newberry's ocw load of 39 grains. Outstanding!
This gun loves 100g blue box federal ammo so I bought a bunch of it and use the brass to reload 100g sbt Sierra Gamekings. I used IMR 4064 to match speed and they shot great. This is the only load that I use federal brass. ( all others winchester)
I loaded 85g Sierra hpbt with IMR 4350 and they shot great.
VERY little load development needed on this gun. I will say for these loads I have only shot at 100 yards so I can't speak to their grouping down range but I see no reason for them to fall apart.
However, the 260 is a different animal. My best comes with 130g berger. The 140's don't play well in my gun.
