I think the answer to the question is based on what you have owned.....
There are different grades of factory rifles that separate themselves one from the other in terms of utility and functional beauty.
When you buy your first custom rifle, even if its just a custom barrel and custom stock, all factory rifles might become less than glamorous in comparison.
And then if you are fortunate enough to have a custom rifle built from scratch with extensive metal smithing on the action, bolt, bottom metal, and barrel, custom metal grip caps and butt pads, custom marbled wood and stock with finely cut elaborate checkering, custom scope mounts, etc., you reach another level.
Bottom line: They all might shoot /12" groups but there is no comparison in terms of how you look at them. Some are serviceable and you don't care a lot if they get dinged up some. Others are functional also, but you do all you can to keep them from getting scratched or dinged unnecessarily when hunting with them.
Unfortunately they all cost different amounts of money. For a guy just wanting a serviceable hunting rifle with no concern for frills, a bottom line factory rifle that shoots well will suffice. If you want more than that, you typically pay more but you appreciate it more too in most cases if you truly like and appreciate the beauty of fine rifles for what they are.
