I REALLY suggest removing the stock, and cleaning the
spring and tube in the stock. I purchased my first
Remington 1100 new in 1966. I know what I am talking about.
EVERY time someone talks to me about a jamming Rem. 1100,
I ask, "Did you clean the spring in the stock?", and their
reply is often, "What spring in the stock?". Since the
gas mechanism in the 1100 isn't sealed, powder gunk and
water migrate into the bolt return spring housing,
and as it builds, the shotgun starts to get sluggish.
CLEAN THIS SPRING before you do anything else.
