so us city slicker owe you ranchers for putting meat on our plate. Ha HA. what do you ranchers owe us for building your cars tractors boots and every thing else you touch every day .I feal so sorry for all you have to put up with, in the middle of that large piece of land .give you a break right .you should give us a break.I have been out west and 98.3 percentof the land is posted .survivors will be prosecuted .ever wonder why our kids got nothing to do but hang out and get in trouble .its because land owners like you post every place there is.I dont realy care what happens to your ranches.I only shoot bucks and I always get mine on public land.

Bullwhip,

You don't owe me anything more than what you pay for meat. Who said that? I didn't read it anywhere? Further, I damm sure don't owe you a thing. We pay for what we have and don't expect to mooch off of others. In Texas, if we want to go hunt, we act decent and go ask. Even in NM, I call the rancher and tell him that I'm going to be calling coyotes if he doesn't mind. It's called being neighborly.... Not being an azzhole. You should try it sometime.

With people like you around, it would give us incentive to close roads and lock you out. Your attitude is what most ranchers would put up with for about as long as it takes to drag your azz out of the truck & teach it some manners.

We are to blame for kids getting in trouble too? That's funny.

Sometimes I wonder how people like you find places like this.

Why don't you "Come out West" again for our annual hunt and see how many gates you find locked, and how much land there is for you to hunt? You may go away with less ignorance than you arrived with.

Bullwhip-If production prices go up, the price of the product goes up. Simple economics. If the land taxes go up, that is an expense that will be reflected in the prices paid for food. When we country bumpkins go to town we pay to go to the movies, pay to go to the zoo, pay to do virtually anything that we're willing to pay for to be entertained, unless we go to somewhere that is public that we want to see like a museum or somesuch. If we were to seek entertainment in some townies backyard pool and just marched right in, we would be arrested. When we go to town we know the goods/services we are getting are going to cost us, unless we get lucky and someone gives a free pass to do something or get something "on the house". Seems to me the agriculture has been pretty free with letting people use their ground for hunting.
I don't know what the taxes are in Michigan for property, don't really care. Here, ag ground is used for production and is taxed differently than residential property. I would compare it to a carpenter being able to right off tools and such as business expenses.ObarO

Done Deal Partner!...Got no reason to believe that would be a bad deal...I trust that you would respect my place just as I would respect yours...

Where do I send the key?

I am sure you would, my point is it doesnt always work that way.

I get permission or I stay out. The OP stated so n so talked to the Rancher earlier and it was ok.Perhaps if he had talked to him himself(asked)everything would have been kosher.I have a friend who farms and he said that this type of situation is all too common. You know...one guy said he got permission given to another guy, given to another guy...it dont work that way.

"I seem to have dashavoo, all over again".
Why is it there is always a guy that feels they should cuss all the ranchers, but is upset when ranchers cuss slob hunters? Just asking.
I manage a ranch, we are in two parts, my house sits on 7000, DEEDED acres. (That means owned by the ranch)
4 miles of gravel from the highway,(maintained by the ranch)
6 culverts (purchased and installed by the ranch)
8 pivots in production.(also paid for by the ranch)
I could go on for pages, but I'll get to the point.
Where in any of that have we as a ranch lost the right to say who is welcome and who is not?????
As for a reason any jack wad can't hunt here, don't need one, it's PRIVATE PROPERTY.
The other part of our ranch is 64,000 acres.
Some Deeded, some BLM. The ranch pays for grazing rights, maintains the roads, maintains the water, controls weeds, maintains fences. All at ranch expense.
Any jack wad is welcome to hunt the blm ground, that is public land, there is plenty of it.
Our deeded ground we allow "hunting with permission only".
So who is getting hosed, and who is getting the "FREEPASS".
The rancher that has spent all the money, or the jackwad that hunts on "Public ground"?
Funniest thing about this post is that there are guys on "PM", and specifically this post, that have hunted both of of ranches, they also seem to be the guys that are respectful, and I would consider good house guest.
Bullwhip, It's sad that you got a boneon for ranchers, your welcome to come out here and meet some in person.Might change your perspective. Duane

Most working people do appreciate the hard work that goes into these products as well. A common way of showing this appreciation and respect is buying American made products whenever feasible. Do you think these ranchers you speak of buy imported boots, tractors, etc just so you'd be out of a job? I think you need to show some respect.

And your idea of taxing is worse than Harry Reid's idea of Inheritance Tax of ranches. I thought he was bad. Wow.

If any of the other ranchers, ranch hands, and respectful hunters have "high blood pressure", This might help.
A freind sent me this. (It seems fitting)

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.
>
> A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado . The Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the “cattle” guards immediately!
>
> Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten President Obama out on the matter, Vice-President Joe Biden, intervened with a request that...before any “cattle” guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining for Arizona border guards. 'Times are hard', said Joe Biden, 'it's only fair to the cattle guards and their families!'

Hooked, you nailed that one. In this area, that is one thing that really gets the land owners riled, is when guys "piggyback" onto each others places that one another have permission to hunt.

Cars, tractors, boots ? You forgot our trucks.
Last I knew we paid for and owned all of those items
Same for our land.

I'm guessing your attitude is keeping you off most private land.

Bullwhip, I thought I explained things pretty clearly?
Even offered you to come out here and hunt.
I'll admit I'm just a dumbcowboy, but I don't understand your last post.
"7000 acres My point exactly".

I think his point, Duane, is that, like all good communists, he thinks that some people just have more than they need and that's not fair so the government should step in and make it fair. Is that right, comrade Bullwhip?
