I also bought 2 "broke" geldings this week. Both are older ranch horses, I have roped and worked cattle off both of them.
I will get a pic of the second one when I pick him up.
After the losses this winter, we are back to, 2 good ranch horses, two started 2 year olds, a brood mare and a fillie still on the tit.
Buddy and myself took a few days off to beat the heat and get a little fishing in. We went in light just the two Morgans..A few mulies in velvet but mostly just some good scenery and fishing.
Well things aren't slowin down so i figured i better start ridin my colt that is now 4. His 3rd ride i figured i see how wild he was and took the hounds that have been holding down the chain all summer...dumb idea...good thing hes wild as heck.
Hazard on 3rd ride
Hazards 4th ride. I got Poco and his wild bunch to go along. Poco's stud Spyder and a yearling colt out of him. His 1st time out....WILD!!!
We figured he better learn how to carry the trash. "For you Devin"
My first win as a trainer at a parimutual track. This little Count Jiacomo mare won alot races for me and moved from claimers to allowances. She could fly for 350 yards.
I have trained alot of horses since then, but this mare was my favorite.
Here is a picture of my dad roping not long before he passed on.Dad was a PRCA calf roper in his youth and was the 4 states finals champion when he was 68.
I did rope a few calves way back in the day but don't have any good, clear pics.
I wasnt that good of a roper,so I rode these 4 legged critters for 30 years.
