just starting to reload for my AR 223 and wonder what is the best bullet weight for a 1 in 8 twist? also what seems to be your pet loads for this round with the 55-62 weight bullets.thanks.
53 Gr Vmax over 25.5 gr of Benchmark seated 2.250. Scary accurate. The 223 is so easy to load for I'm not sure there is such a thing as a pet load, but if there is, the above mentioned would be mine.
53 grain vmax with 25.6 grains of IMR 8208 xbr 2.260 oal.
have shot a .350" 4 shot group at 100 yds. Benchmark also is very accurate with the 53 grain vmax as FairChase93 just mentioned. My AR is a 1:8 fluted stainless.
For those of you not reloading and buying factory 55 grain rounds and v-max in particular....where are you finind the best source? I can't find it in stock at my local stores but I can find it online with high shipping. Suggestions?

I don't buy factory ammo but Midway has it on sale with reasonable shipping cost

40 yrs of w748 & blc2 50/55g bullets are time proven in all my .223s.
