Ya Kirsch. Not my first choice either but better than a red light/thermal combo IMO. I don’t think the ATN has stream vision and even if it did I feel like there are a lot of compromises with using streamvision to scan with as well but I have not tried it other than scanning from vehicle.
You are correct that a helmet mounted or handheld is the best and that is why I have XP Trail/Helion set up. But if I only had a trail I think I would go ZRO delta mount route so I could cover 360 deg and hopefully pick em up earlier to avoid sneak ins. Def a compromise without handheld though and it will amount to fewer kills. Still better than red ligh though
