Chad, if I may I would like to give you some advice. DONT, and I will repeat, DONT buy an AR for your future coyote rifle. Its like a highly addictive drug, once you get a taste of it you will be looking for ways to finance your next "fix", also known as another AR! Very expensive addiction.

Great post Chad, and congrats on the first coyote. Ain't nothing wrong with a 270 for coyotes, if it's legal. While I was growing up in Arkemsaw, it was 22 rimfire only. Then they evenually went 25 cal centerfire or smaller. Finally they went to 30 cal centerfire max.
And for hunter ed. I was old enough, it was not mandatory, but I took it with my 8 year old when I was in my 30s.

Read as much as you can but hunt more. Nothing teaches more than expericenes(spelling?)in the field. Great story.
