Jimmy Carter: Wilson comments 'based on racism'

Rim Runner,
Just so I am clear on this. You support this administrations tripling of the national debt and nationalizing banks, auto industries and the attempt to nationalize healthcare? From your post it would seem as that is your position.

Guess what? The Dems don't give a flying monkey fart about this country either. All they are doing is using opportunity to take control over more and more of the daily life of the average American. What all of them care about is power and money. Obama is not going to "turn things around" anymore than George Bush did. It might appear so in the short term, but this administration is setting this country up for a long term catastrophe. And I firmly believe it is all by design. Once you prove capitalism and the Constitution are "broken" (just like healthcare, banking, etc.) then you can throw it out the window and re-create a new America as seen through the eyes of the elitist, power mad politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Just to put numbers in the equaltion, of how much each kid comming out of College or entering the work force owes the Government as of right now, $ 150,000 over the course of their lives.
Obama has no problem adding to their dept, he won't be paying it

To quote the IAEA is an absolute joke, since this organization declared repeatedly leading up to the Iraq war that Saddam did not have any nuclear capacity.Saddam wasn't very nice. But, he did provide a counterbalance to the crazy shiites in Iran.

So what if no Iraqi nationals were involved in the 9/11 attacks, who cares? I'm missing your point. You do understand that many, if not most, of the terrorists we killed in Iraq were not themselves Iraqi nationals, right?

This marginal uranium certainly doesn't constitute any type of weapon. It was not even weapons grade.

Yeah, right HB71, Saddam didn't have WMD's. Sure. Tell that to these Kurds, bud.

Many photographs of these gas attack incidents are of little kids, but the PM TOS proscribes my using them. Last time I checked gas was a WMD.

Why is it you liberals just can't ID evil when it is right in front of your face?

Java, It seems odd that you are tying to prove your point with photos of an attack that happened in 1988. Before the first Gulf War and at a time when Saddam Hussisen was considered a US friend. The real question isn’t about Saddam having WMDs, it’s whether he posed a big enough threat to the US to justify the cost in lives and tax payer’s dollars? BTW So how did the US Government react to these attacks when they were happening?

No, Rimmy, my point is simply that we took out a diabolical monster who had demonstrated a willingness to kill en masse his own citizens and to allow the organized torture and raping of them as well.

Good riddance.

Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of an Obama Presidency

I'm not sure what constitutes your definition of a terrorist. The insurgents in Iraq are not members of active terror cells attempting to perpetrate domestic terror. During the 80s these people were called freedom fighters. They are radical young muslims looking for jihad and they are always available in the region. The Iraq war was about deposing Saddam and creating a muslim democracy in the region. The fact that the insurgents showed up could certainly be anticipated.

Rim Runner,
I'm still waiting on a response to my question. Do you support the current administrations tactics? Is this your definition of "fixing" things?

I agree with you about Carter except people are throwing real issues at the wall and they are sticking.

GWB did say the war was unwinable, just need to keep popping away at them, or they will us. As far as the little known communist that's your opinion.

Rush and many Americans hope Obama's socialist agenda fails, Rush has explained this in detail if one can get off their knees before the messiah.

Bush was a fool for bailing out failed company's, only the smart and strong survive.

I love it!

There are a great many of us who hope Obama’s agenda fails, not because of some racial animosity we have toward the man but because we are philosophically opposed to his agenda and truly believe it is a prescription for disaster.

As to Wilson’s comment, study history, there have been much more violent encounters in the hollowed halls of Congress over the past 200 years. Disrespectful, yes? But there have been other outbursts of retoric even more disrespectful and an occasional caning too.

I would suppose he was simply fed up with the administration’s effort to continually dance around the question of coverage for illegal aliens. Wilson, obviously hasn’t found the part of the bill that specifically cites citizenship as a requirement for coverage or government assistance, and that’s because it doesn’t exist or didn’t at that point.

As to GWB, there weren’t additional successful terror attacks against this country after 9-11 and none of us knows whether or not that was due to vigilance, luck or a lack of trying on the part of the bad guys. Even though I’m not a supporter of Bush, I’m inclined to give him the credit for that.

Finally, Jimmy Carter is an asterisk in the history of this country...at least he's the first part of that word!

Of course, the debate in Washington has often become heated. And, yes, Senator Preston Brooks of South Carolina once entered the Senate chamber and attacked Charles Sumner of Massachusetts with a cane. Sumner was beaten almost to death and never fully recovered from the cowardly attack. And, yes, members of congress have been questioning the presidents veracity throughout our history. However, this is the first time a Senator felt the need to interrupt the presidents speech by calling him a liar. In the past, lack of applause was considered disagreement. I am well aware that many senators have called many presidents liars while speaking in the senate. It is a matter of decorum and respect. The bar has now been lowered.

well, politics involves different opinions as to what constitutes the truth. Mr. Wilsons vote was never in jeopardy. I guess it will be a victory for truth when our next republican president is heckled during his/her speeches.

Have you lived in a cave for the last 8 years?

Maybe not, but he was booed during at least one State of the Union speech by a majority of the dems present....I guess booing is more civilized and respectful.

As far as making the news, the MSM sensationalized it in an attempt to hound Wilson out of office, much the way they hounded Trent Lott, Tom Delay, etc..

Booing during the State of the Union speech was undignified. I agree. But, you just wait until Barney Frank is interrupting the next republican president.
