Around Iowa guarantees are a rare thing, pups or adult dogs. I've never sold a dog with a guarantee for 2 reasons. #1 is the fact that money flies outta my pocket as fast as it goes in and #2 is the horror stories I've heard about the condition some of the dogs sold with guarantee or trial come back in.
But I always preferred to sell dogs "under the tree". I was never afraid to take my dogs hunting and show what a dog could do or what the parents of a pup could do. Sometimes it would take a couple of hunting trips for some buyers and I never had a problem with that either. Amazingly enough, many buyers don't even want to go hunting even after I tell them I'd prefer to sell under the tree. Only thing I can figure is they figure I'm willin and that I must not have anything to hide. I didn't.
Of coarse the number of litters I've had could be counted on one hand and the number adult dogs I've sold could be counted on the other so take that for what it's worth.
