I've got a box on the top shelf of my wood room labeled 'make one for myself some day'. I've been tossing extremely nice pieces of turning stock into it since '06.
I finally decided to get into the stash and get busy. I found this stock near the bottom of the box with a note attached that only says 'burl'. I have no idea what kind of wood it is, but it has some of the strangest figuring I've ever seen. I wish I'd spent more time labeling.
12/6/18: After doing a little research, chatting with friends, and making some phone calls, it looks like this stock might be masur birch
Anyone like to voice an opinion about the kind of wood, jump in. I've very curious and would like some opinions.
Anyway, it's a small body enclosed reeder with a low glow oil and wax finish.
The first three pictures show the body in 3 slight rotations.
If you're new to hand calling, I'd be glad to get on the phone with you after you get the call and go over the basics.
Let's end an auction at the stroke of 6:00 PM EST on Sunday the 9th. Time stamps prior to 6:00 are good, but if it starts with a 6 (6:XX) it's too late.
I'll cover domestic postage and tracking.
Anyone like to start it off with a $15 bid?
Regards, friends!
