I just got an 870 stock. I'm quite unhappy with my first buying experience. Here is what I emailed them. After looking at their other 870 stock they make, the thumbhole, that one shows a picture of a stock bolt with it. I think maybe someone forgot to put one in the box. The color not matching sucks too, but I would of not bothered if it wasn't for the stock bolt problem.
Boyds Customer Service,
I received the 20 ga 870 american plainsmen stock today. My gun is brand new production and the stock bolt it came with is an OAL of 10.5 inches. This bolt sticks out 3 1/8 inch past the tang of the new stock. On the old stock it only sticks out 1/8". Therefore, the bolt is 3" too long. I looked online it would seem there is a bolt that is 2" shorter for older guns, but that is not going to be short enough it would seem. What part is required?
I'm less than happy with waiting 4 weeks, receiving it just in time for my wife's birthday present, and now it doesn't work. I'll be waiting for another week for a bolt to ship when I figure out what part is required. Needing a 10 dollar bolt is not a big deal, not being informed ahead of time by the website or during check out totally sucks. Furthermore, the color of the buttstock and forend are not even close. The forearm is a light girly pink. The buttstock is a rich purplish florescent pink. Either one would be fine if they matched.
Still waiting for them to resolve the issues. I'll post how it goes.
