Baiting

6mm....you are so right....I bought 3 never drive way patrols this year to update my getting old sensors and everyone was on a different signal... probally next year I'm gonna try a different system , I see several on abay

I plan to do some testing with my new sensor units to see how far they will work. I'll post the results here once I find out.

Yep, I have seen that unit before. It's definitely more expensive than mine but I feel certain it will have greater range. The unit I got was about $38 for 4 transmitters and a receiver. That works well at my site which is only 60 yards.

I'm looking forward to your findings. My driveway patrol is acting up. I just bought another but haven't modified it yet. It would be nice if the one you got worked at over 100 yards.

This morning when I checked the cameras on the bait pile, I saw that a coyote had visited on Sat. night about 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. No sign of him Sunday night or Monday night on the cameras. Tonight when I went out to go calling, I turned my thermal 19A on and saw something run from the bait pile out into the field. I knew it was too big to be a cat and had to either be a red fox or the coyote. I also had a red visit just before daybreak this morning. Although our calling has been really good this year, my bait pile has been untouched by a coyote for almost a year. I've had one coyote in Dec. that visited one night only, and I think the last one I killed on the bait was sometime in Feb. of last year, so slow is not the word. Absolutely dead is more like it.

Anyway, when I came home the alarm went off while my wife was in the shower, and it was the coyote. I shot him with my Stag AR carbine, and a 50 gr. V-max using the Photon 4.6XT. You can see on the video how it walloped him. Here is the video and picture. We've killed 4 while calling this week and this one makes #5 for the week. We only managed one from a quadruple that I called in last Thursday night or our results would be much better.

Yep, that's pretty darn good there DoubleUp. Great video and I notice the resolution and clarity is great when you use the large IR spot light. That little 50 gr. V-Max really whopped him.

Nice going.

DU- Appears they like short ribs too.

Congratulations!

My modified Driveway patrol seems to have stopped working at longer distances, been working fine for a few years at 125 yards. It works fine close in, any idea what could have changed?

Are your batteries fresh? You might try putting the receiver in a little different location and see if it will receive the signal there. I had to replace two last summer that had been running constantly for 5 years with no problems, but they just sort of died. I would probably go with the type that 6mm06 recommends if I was ordering new ones now. Hopefully he will try the distance they will receive and let us know when he gets a break from the coyote killing.

He didn't appear to have been missing many meals that's for sure. I thought the recording turned out well considering the equipment.

Sorry to say I haven't. I need someone to help me do the testing and everyone seems so busy. I will try to do it soon.
