I have both but would only use the 6.8 for hunting purposes.
7.62x39 vs 6.8 SPC

Out of my AR's I'm not seeing anything to write home about on the 7.62X39. Factory ammo leaves no question in my mind that the 6.8 is superior and so far the handloads on the 7.62 are not even close to what I get out of a 6.8.
Also the bullet choices for the 6.8 leave the 7.62X39 in the dust not only on the shelves but in the world of same same bullet weight BC's. The higher operating pressure of the 6.8 makes up for the decrease in bore cross section and expansion ratios a great deal compared to the bigger one.
