.380 Owners......

I'd LOVE to find an old Colt .380, but they're now priced WAY beyond what I would consider "reasonable"..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here's a little Colt .380 porn for you. It's a Colt MarkIV Series 80 Mustang +II. Sadly, you're right about the prices they are currently bringing and it's too bad that Colt doesn't make them anymore /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif . (would you believe that this one was $250 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ) I know I wouldn't sell this one even at the going rate, if you find one and you can afford I'd say snatch it up as they are great little pistol's!!!!

Here it is compared to one of my full size 1911's.

Steve, You might want to look at the Sig 230 or 232 (stainless)
SigP-230.jpg

I switched over to the Sig from a Walther PPKS after being 'bitten' in the web of my thumb/forefinger so many times while carrying it off duty and having to qualify/practice with it...

The Sig has a natural point for me and IMHO, a better trigger pull than the Walther...

Good Luck in your search... There are some potent .380 loads out on the market these days...

Well put.. same here on the bite issue.
In fact myself and most of the people on the department I was on used to love the PPK/S and all eventually switched to the Sig 230/232.

I'd get her the new .327 Mag. Recoil is very managable. No it does not hit as hard as a .357 mag but it is much easier to control. I'd feel better if she doesn't have to rely on follow up shots. The .380 just doesn't have the poop the .327 mag does. Also being a wheel gun, pull the trigger and it goes bang.

Hi all,
I have a Ruger LCP and it has been reliable.I am shooting the Remington Golden Saber 102 grain loads. My Wife has shot it and has no problem with the recoil. She used to have the Beretta Cheetah the double stack one.Not sure the model number.Anyway for whatever reason even though it was ALOT heavier the recoil bothered her more then the Ruger does. She said it hurt her wrist and bit into her hand.the Ruger is VERY concealable and light.Fits very nicely in a front pocket.I carry it in a Desantis Nemesis holster. looks like a wallet in a front pocket. I only carry it when out of state( legally) as WI has no CCW and I have a non resident FLA CCW permit.

I agree that the 380 is not the ideal self defense round but its a heckuva alot better then a .45 sitting in the safe at home:)

here is a link to the holster.

I don't want to hijack the thread. Just wondering how long from when you guys signed up for the recall did Ruger send you a shipping ticket? Its been well over a month since I sent them the info.Anyone have an idea of exactly what they are changing?

If you get a 380 take a look at the new Hornady Critical Defense ammunition.I have read several reviews and everyone seems to like it so far. Here is a link.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Definitley not a top dollar gun, bu some how it came into my possesion from my uncle.

Its a Hi-Point. (it was given to me, I wouldnt have ever picked it out)

At 15-20 yards I have no problem consistently hitting a coffee can. This pistol probably has about 600 rounds down the tube, and Ive never had one mis-fire or jam. Never. Functions smooth for a cheap gun.

I would want a little more stopping power for a SD round but I wouldnt really feel undergunned with the .380. JUst my 2 cents

It took me about a month before I got the box and instructions for sending it back to Ruger. Once it was picked up by UPS, I received it back in a week.

I have several friends who have LCP's, and are waiting for the guns to return from the factory or are waiting for notification to send them out. Inquiries to Ruger have revealed that the recall is running slow right now due to backlog from over the holidays.

4949,
You must be right, before the holidays everyone was getting their LCP back in about a week. Mine has been gone for a solid two weeks now with no word from them. If it hasn't found the way home by the end of the week I'll call Ruger.

I dont have much experience with .380's but I've test fire my cousins Kel-Tec .380 quite a few times and from what I've seen its a good little gun.He bought it for his wife but he carries it most of the time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

GC,

The guys here at work tell me if you call Ruger and tell them you are LE they will expedite the service on your weapon. It might be worth a shot.

I like the Kel-Tec P3AT. Very small and light and easy to carry. Quite accurate too considering the small sights. It kind of bugs me that Ruger pretty much just copied the P3AT when they came out with their LCP???

I just bought the little Ruger, what is wrong with it?

I do know the magazine button is too easy to hit by accident.

The ruger had a recall just like the SR9. Supposedly it would fire if it hit the ground wrong. I also heard at one point that there's an anti-gun group out there in Calif. taking firearms and trying to get them to malfunction. Video taping it and making a huge stink about it. Picking on ruger at the moment. Rumor or not, it wouldn't suprise me.

Flea,
Look over at Ruger's website for the recall information of the LCP pistol. There is a safety recall on older LCP's; it is dependant upon your serial number if your gun should go back for a safety recall of the hammer. I actually posted that info here when the recall first came out. Anyway, check Ruger’s website for the serial numbers affected and follow the directions from there.

Yep mine is one of the ones affected but I am not so sure this is such a serious issue. My little gun shoots great and just judging mine, I highly recommend the little Ruger 380 for a Pocket gun. Several years ago I had a Sig P230 until my Wife took a CHL course. I have seen it a few times since then but only when it needs cleaning. It is a little larger than what I would call a Pocket Gun though. The only thing Ruger needs to do is change the Magazine release to something similar to the Sig. The Magazine button on my Ruger gets accidentally pushed too often riding in my pocket. My 380 has spilled blood twice now. One Coyote and one Coon both wounded needing a final shot.

My wife carries the sig 230 with hogue grips. it does have a bite to it, she handled most of the other ones talked about but went with the sig.
