I just bought a Tikka Laminated/Stainless in .270 Win. -Never owned a .270 before. If you have some favorite loads please share them with me. I'll be using a 130gr bullet, Sierra most likely. I have some Varget and H4350 on hand and will be picking up some H4831SC. Figured I'd ask you guys and save some experimental time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

150g sierra game king, 57.5g RL-22 or H4831, win case, fed 215. 2950fps and .5 MOA from a rem 700 BDL sporter. Awesome LR load for deer.

I'm in the middle of doing load developement now for a Coues hunt this fall.
Yesterdays results favored the 130 Sierra SBT over a near max load of 4831SC

I shoot 130gr NBT's in my Tikka .270 and it likes
57.5gr 4831sc, cci 200, seated mag length. I haven't checked the velocity for this load, but the groups are small.

130gr. Hornady SST, 55.1 gr. IMR 4350, Win. Case, Fed 210M Primer. That is my deer load.

110 Gr. Hornady V-Max, 58 gr. IMR 4350, Win. Case, Fed 210M Primer. Great coyote load.

Both very accurate out of my Tikka.

I have Browning A Bolt and Rem 700, and a Ruger Stainless.

All of these guns like the 130g Nosler Ballistic tip with 58.0 or 58.5g of R#22 with a Fed 210 primer.

The A bolt shoots three shot groups that touch, the Pillar bedded 700's shoot 1/2" or just slightly less, and the Stainless Ruger in the Skeleton stock with only a trigger job shoots 3/4" with this load.

In all rifles, I seat the bullets where they just kiss the lands, and it makes at least 1/2" of difference in the guns grouping.

If you don't have a device to measure the seating depth, may I suggest Rajun Cajun's Over All Length measuring device that is a moderator on this board.

130 grain rounds, H4350.

150 grain A-Frames and 160 grain Partitions = RL22.

If I could have only one powder for the .270 Win, it would be RL22.

Oh no... ackleyman used the "A" word.

I have a couple of .270s and one of them is an A- _ _ _ _.

130gr most any bullet with a full load of H4831SC or R22 has done well for me. Start lower and work up. Most of mine tightened up near the published max loads.

I really like Winchester's XP3 150gr. It has such a high ballistic coefficient that it is within .3" of the 130gr. at 300 yards. I'm also interested in Federal's new 110gr. Barnes load that screams at 3400 fps. I'm definitely a big believer in Barnes all copper bullets. They hit like a sledge hammer.

An amazing number of rifles like 4831 and a Nosler Ballistic Tip. I use Fedral Match primers and Winchester brass to get sub moa out of 4 .270s with the same load. I forget exactly how much powder.

I used to shoot 130gr partitions with 57.5gr IMR4831 and Rem 9 1/2 primers. Then I switched to 140gr Accubonds and H4831SC and Fed 210M primers. A Tikka should be plenty accurate with the 4350 or 4831SC. These have been the most accurate powders I've found for the 270.

Keep them coming guys, I have a new Remington 700 in 270 Win I am still working up loads for.

So far, Factory Premium 140 gr Accubonds are 1/2 inch and 130 gr TSX with IMR-4831 is looking to shoot about the same. The 110gr TTSX I need to spend more time on, but looks like in the end it will shoot well also.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Looks like I'm on the right track with the 4831SC and will probably pick up some RE-22 and try that. Sierra lists the RE-22 as their accuracy load and hunting load with the 130gr bullet. I'm sure you've saved me a bunch of time. Won't have the rifle until sometime next week and I'm expecting good things. It will be my fourth Tikka. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good hunting! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I've not loaded anything heavier than a 110 gr.

I use the following:

Hornady 110 gr. hp; 46.0 - 47.5 IMR 4064; Win WLR Primer; Federal and Remington cases. Seated to the recommended length in the Hornady manual. I began with once fired cases trimmed to the recommended trim length. The cases are trimmed and the primer pockets cleaned after each firing for uniformity.

Groups are excellent in my Savage 110E.

I only use the Barnes 130gr TSX in my 270. With a max charge of RL22, I get right at 3200fps but with horizontal stringing. With a max charge of H4831sc I get excellent accuracy and 3075fps. With a max charge of imr4350 I get excellent accuracy, but have not shot it over the Chrony yet.

I wish I could get RL22 to shoot this bullet. Speed kills.

The 140 gr Accubonds shot well for us in the same rifles with a slightly lower load than we used in the 130 grain Ballistic Tip IMR 4831 load.

But for fun try the 90 grain TNTs with H380(I think) on mangy yotes. Fubar soup.
