.223 for rabbits

The .22lr bullet upsets to fill the barrel grooves like a Minie Ball. The bullet is soft lead and will not damage the steel of the barrel.

Carrying one of these sub-caliber chamber inserts (looks like a cartridge case) gives you some flexibility.

Accuracy is good enough for 75 yard rabbits.

You can also get .32acp/.30-06 and some other calibers.

for me there is nothing like poppin rabbits with my new lil S&W .22A. I love this lil pistol! Its inexpensive, and tons of fun to shooot, and super accurate! blowin em away wit the ol 223 is fun at long range though!

You can still use the 223 on rabbits. I do the headshots on the cottontails, and anywhere on the Jackrabbits, since I won't eat them. Our whitetailed jackrabbits get alot bigger than P-dogs, and they seem more warry due to the eagles and coyotes that are always after them. The tree belts seem to have plenty of both types right now.
