After a couple of years of planning my 1st custom bolt rifle is completed.

Rifle is Chambered in 244 Ackley Improved .273 Neck.

Trued Remington 700 Left Hand Long Action.
Remington X-Mark trigger tuned to 2.5 pounds
Krieger 26” CM #4 contour 1-12” twist (.243 dia)
Holland Comp recoil lug
Vais muzzle brake
HS Precision Stock
Barrel, lug and brake matte finished

NightForce NXS 5.5 x 22 x 50 NP-R2
NightForce Base and Rings

Total weight 11 pounds.

Hey- maybe he's like me! I have a Vais (installed by George Vais himself even) on my .220 Swift. Half the fun of shooting small furry critters with a Swift or similar round is to see the pretty colors when they are hit. Or to (ahem!) check out your misses so that you can quickly correct for the next shot.

Beautiful job, well done. You, however, are not helping me resist my urge to build a custom gun. I've been fighting it for some time, but pics and results like these fuel the fires... Treat her well, I'm sure she'll do the same for you!
 
Thanks to all for the comments. I look forward to introducing it to one of my local coyotes soon.

As for the brake question, which has been answered. So I can spot hits through the scope, there is little recoil and no muzzle jump.
