Can I hunt coyotes and predators with an SBR in Arizona? Links to the law? I'm having a tough time finding anything. This is for an out of state hunter. Thanks

Yes, at least the game wardens that have checked me haven't had an issue with it and its a 12.5" AR.

I did ask the local Game and Fish Field Supervisor and he said it was legal.

An SBR is legal for taking predators and furbearers in AZ. There are a few areas where an SBR may not be allowed such as in metro Game Management Units. A hunting license is required to take coyotes in AZ .

Here is the info for the statutes and rules that apply to hunting with a SBR.

The definition of a "firearm" is in ARS 13-3101A4
"Firearm" means any loaded or unloaded handgun, pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun or other weapon that will expel, is designed to expel or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive. Firearm does not include a firearm in permanently inoperable condition.

Commission Rule R12-4-304D

1. Firearms;
2. Pre-charged pneumatic weapons .22 caliber or larger;
3. Bow and arrow;

5. Traps not prohibited under R12-4-307;

Areas open to hunting Predator and Furbearers are found in the 2016-2017 Hunting Regulation Booklet under Commission Order 13 on page 82.
An SBR would not be allowed in the areas designated as a "Limited Weapon Shotgun Shooting Shot Season.
