Can you leave the Q/D in the can?

I was wondering if I could torque the muzzle break to the right spec inside my m4-2000 and then use it as a screw off/on?

The muzzle devices are very expensive for multiple hosts but I didn't know better when I ordered this can. My form 4 went in yesterday so I'll have my first can in a couple months.

Thanks!

Bad idea in my opinion. The purpose of a QD mount is to keep the can from backing off the barrel during repeated fire, saving the fine threads on the barrel, and insuring proper alignment with the bore. QD mounts are cheaper than having a baffle strike repaired. Know what you are buying before buying it.

The QD also helps the can index the same everytime. If you don't torque it on the barrel the same you could have shift in your POI. Also you run the risk of damaging your threads each time you move it around. For me the extra mounts are worth the money and piece of mind.

Your way will probably work it's just not optimal and you want your weapon to perform at its best.
