I was travelling with the RagnCajn again this year. You that have met Randy know how good a fella he is, and what fun it is to hang out and hunt with him.

I left the house Monday evening and made the 2 hour drive to Randy's house. He had just gotten home from work when I arrived, and his beautiful wife had supper on the table, and had a place set for me.

If you've met Randy's wife, you know he married above himself (but didn't most of us? ) Anyway, she made me feel right at home, and had a great meal to boot. While Randy was primping and loading his gear, I made a few last minute posts in the hunt forum from his computer, and listened to his son Stephen strum the guitar. That boy is a bonafide talent. After I got through, Randy was still finishing up his weekly bath, and I sat and watched Stephen play Tour of Duty 4 or some such game on the big screen.

Not long after, we hit the road for the long trip to Globe. We drove in shifts with one driving while the other slept in the back seat. Come daylight, we were hitting El Paso.

Randy had arranged for us to meet pm member ChiliRojo (Vic Carlson) on the way, and we hit Wilcox, Arizona about 1:30 or so. We stopped to meet Vic and eat a burger. Vic is a predator hunter extroidinare, so it was no surprise that he he had 2 coyotes in the back of the truck from the mornings hunt.

Vic, it was pleasure to meet you, sir! After visiting a little, we hit the road for Globe so we could get our licenses and lion tags, and maybe get in a quick stand.

By 4:30 pm, we had our licenses and we headed out to a spot where Randy had located a lion last year. Unfortunately, there was no lion sign there this year, and we only managed one short stand before dark.

When we got back to the truck, Randy struck up a little coyote locator on the FX5, and we had a back respond that was clear on the other side of the mountain.

By the time we got back to casino we hooked up with derbyacresbob (Bob Morris) and Dogboy (Ken Holtz). We were the only ones there that early, so we headed into Globe to grab something to eat.

Ken and Bob are great guys and after visiting for a while we headed back to the casino and our rooms to get ready for the next days hunt. Randy and I would be hunting together Wednesday, and Bob and Ken were going to try their luck.

Randy and headed out early to hit some spots that Lance and I had had some luck in last year, but after a full day of calling, we had only heard one back (the first stand of the morning), and had one other slip by about 300 yards out.

We got back to the casino in time to see Onefoot (hard to miss in his camo truck with "Onefoot" across the tailgate) headed out with knock'emdown (didn't know that who it was at the time)

Later that evening, as more people started showing up, we made plans to go into Globe and eat at Irene's Mexican Cafe.

From left to right: genisis (Larry Sanders), bearmanric (Rick Robbins), Michael MacCasland, Sean Martin, Travis Lindley, Sandra Lindley, James Lindley.

jimainaz (Jim Arthur), Dan Carey, RanUtah (Randy Black), Dogboy, derbyacresbob, Phillip Jones, and genisis.

Sandra Lindley, James Lindley, RagnCajn (Randy Reeves), and you know the rest.

After we went back to the casino, we made plans for Thursdays hunt, and met a few more of the members as they arrived.

Dogboy and RanUtah

Travis Lindley, bearmanric, and Sean Martin

It was determined that I would get to hunt with Dogboy and derbyacresbob. I had been looking forward to getting to hunt with them, since these guys kill more coyotes on their home ground in a month, than I kill all year. I had also been admiring Bob's pictures here on the board, and I knew I could learn something from these guys. I was not disappointed.

Part II will cover the events of Friday, and hopefully I can talk Bob into sharing some pictures so I can post them.

I dont know how much more my family can take of me talking about it, but it couldn't hurt.
Still trying to come down from the whole thing to tell you the truth.

I will post a picture of it when I get a chance.
It's a Rock River 24" with a Jewell trigger and Burris Black Diamond scope.
That gun has always been a tack driver since day one.

Good thing they handicapped him this year.....and he has a sense of humor. If you hadn't been pelting him with hot brass (out of that rifle that Dan had no idea who made ), he might have done better during the shoot off. Stick shooter!!!

Larry between us, you certainly were the better shot. I couldn't have shot, not just one but two, golf tees at 200 yards .... if I were you I'd have shot for the egg though .... as far as the hot brass is concerned, there is an advantage to carrying around all this extra ... ahhhh, bulk, brass just bounces off ... it was fun next year I'll come better prepared and those eggs will be in trouble. Actually I met my goal for this year, I wanted to hit at least one egg, the goal was met and I was happy.
