I know this is a little bit of a goofy question but I need to know to plan the way I will hunt the rez.

How was the weather this summer and fall? I kind of need to know if it was dry or wet.

There is other question but I may have to ask it when I get to Globe.

Does anyone know how big were the control burns that were performed on the rez?

it was somewhat wet this year, we had a few good storms that dropped a lot of rain. it been pretty cold up there for AZ anyway. down low in the high 20's and even colder in the mountains(in the mornings. it should be a good hunt this year. i have made a few trip up there and have called up a fair amount for the amount of stands made.

I am also very interested in this thread because last year the area around Globe was a wet, muddy mess. This caused the Globe PM Hunters to concentrate on areas close to the main roads and probably contributed to the relatively poor hunting in '07. (At least for me!) If it does not rain too much before this year's hunt, "them dawgs" are in for a lot of grief!

FYI- Right now most of the state is covered in rain clouds and its starting to drizzle 1.5 hours West of Globe.

I've been keeping tabs of the daily forecast in & around Globe on WEATHER.com. Highs have been in the low 50's and lows right around 30 lately. The higher elevations in the Res are no doubt somewhat colder.

I'll keep checking every day & hopefully develop a baseline of what to expect from Mother Nature come hunt time...

Clint,

thanks for the information. Has it been cold like it was 3 yrs ago?

Rustydog,

I am well acquainted with the rez and wet weather. I have always hunted the upper elevations ( because that is what I know hunt) and there are place that you can go it just depends on how brave you are and how much you trust your vehicle.
The second PM hunt that I went to, I turned a grey truck black ( had a BUNCH of mud all over it, took 4 hours to wash the majority of it off) by the time that I left Az.

Sean,
it has been somewhat of a mild winter, but still pretty cold up high, well for us its cold. its pretty cold in the morning and just perfect the rest of the day. i hope we get a nice dry overcast weekend for the hunt. from the 2 trips i have taken in there the past few months it looks like there could be a good # animals taken this year. it doesn't seem like it has been beaten up to bad. i hunted high one trip and a quick lower elevation hunt and both were pretty good. so if they have aerial gunned they didn't do a very good job of it. but heck i have a better time BS'n then anything, cant wait.
