Yukon night vision

I was at a recent gun show & saw some night vision products from Yukon.

They were Gen 1 tubes (I think salesman said they were the "improved/updated" version if that matters) but they were priced $300-$600. And they had a weaver/pica rail nv tube w/no cross hairs for $250(?) that the salesman said if you have a laser on your gun sighted @ 100 yards to use it as your aim point & use NV tube to see your target.
Sounded like an interesting option for not a lot of money.
Has anyone had any experience w/their products?
I cannot afford over $600 so please don't recommend any of those products.
Who else makes a "cheap" NV scope that at least works even if not great?

I had one of those YUKON NVMT but i found the range very limited unless you get a bigger ir iluminator and optical lense doubler for it wich means extra dollars,i ened up selling it .I did a cheaper option and got a Night Vision monocular with a low x power and adapted it on the back of a rifle scope with a bit of pbc pipe.I got the idea from this forum where they do alot of nightvison testing here are some links http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1433 http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1110 http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

Don't waste your money on Gen I hold out and save up. Then for $1100 or $1200 buy a D300 Gen II. Check out Tactical Night Vision. Vic is a great guy and has a wealth of knowledge.

+1 on Vic. The best civilian dealer in the US, hands down.

Wow, I REALLY just came here to check this place out. Heard some awesome hunters hang out here and I see this. Thank you very much for the kind words. It's been a real pleasure dealing with everyone! I look forward to being here as it seems like the place to be for predator elimination and I am setting up my sponsorship with Yellowhammer as write this.

P.S. Almost forgot, Gen 2 is the least to spend for any serious NV work. I do not sell any Gen 1 due to the sever limitations of these units. Hope this helps and I have just updated my web site as well. Shopping cart to follow.

This is an old thread that I started in Jan.
Have the cheaper NV scopes improved?
I have about $600 that I can spend on one.
I know it will not be great but at least I can see something (I would guess)at night.
I'll only use it 2-5 nights a year if that & I cannot justify $1-2k.
Most if not all shots will be 100 yards or less.
Any suggestions for an inexpensive option?

Just stick that $600 away and save some more. You get what you pay for and I have seen more than one used scope for $1k or so. Once you start using at least a Gen II scope, you will hunt way more than 2-5 nights a year. Trust me. I have a few thousand hours logged using night vision and it just doesn't get any better.
