WW-V Schedule

NASA

New member
It's official. WW V is on for the weekend of June 17-18. WW IV was June 4-5 of last year and had a great turnout. I started this thread to help scattergunner with the task of pulling all the details together. We should plan on Assembly at 0800 on 6/17/06 at the front gate of old Ft. Bridger.

Anyone bringing a CB or SSB?

We need to get an idea of who's coming, when, and their planned accommodations. If you're camping, let us know. Maybe y'all can circle the wagons together?
I'll start off.

NASA- Heading up on the 15th, heading home on the 18th. I'm staying at the Wagon Wheel Motel in Ft. Bridger. Their # is 888-228-5475.

i'm definitely coming. I am probably going to camp, though i may wimp out and do the motel thing, still not 100% sure yet.

I dont have a cb, though i could lay my hands on. Ham Radio be a lot more convienient though, i can do 2 meter and 70cm.

I would love to go but a wedding in Cozumel is calling me that weekend I'll be thinking of ya'll while I'm laying on the beach drinkin maquritas

I'll be over half way there but unable to complete the treck due to family vacation obligations. I'll be thinking of y'all.

I will be there but not spending the night. I have CB, Frs/Gmrs radio and 100 watt 2 way (doubt anyone will have the same frequencies). I will also have a cell phone that works most places out there.

I will be out there June 17th and going home the June 18th about noon. I am trying to get a hold of my co-pilot (pd_buster)to see if he wants to leave on the 16th after work.

Well guys I am off to Alaska and will check in again on the 30th of May.

Later
Frank

More than likely leaving the Fort on the eve of the 16th. May have the fly riding shot gun. Should saty through sunday afternoon. Have CB, and limited knowledge of smoke signals. Need to camp for finincial reasons. Any good public land in the area?

i've been buying camping food and ammo. Already got a sleeping bag, and am going to borrow an air mattress from my brother. Might buy one of those cheap solar showers at wal mart, be nice to clean myself after a long day's shooting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hold up there. Most of us will be smelling like Jim Bridger himself after a long trapping season. I don't know that I would want to be smelling good with this bunch after a couple of days in the "wild".

LOL you guys are welcome to smell like the carcasses in the field all you want. I personally cant stand that sticky sweaty feeling after a few hours.

NASA thank you! Work has been kicking my arse lately. I've had what seems like a deluge of felony level and high maintainence cases over the past couple of months. I keep expecting it to let up, but it don't see that happening anytime soon. Especially since school will be getting out here soon and all these little gangsta's and other generic sociopaths in training will have even more time on their hands. Not to mention the loads of semi-necessary training over the past few weeks. Anyway, I digress... thanks.

Don't worry fly, whatch we got her is a dry climate. The only thing you're gonna be covered in is dust, and that helps to keep the flys.....bugs down. Tent, bag, food and gun...and with the last you really might not need the third. The rest is just extra weight.

praire dog burgers yum yum ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got a pile of that freeze dried camping food at wally. I'm dragging a small portable water heater with me, so i should be good to go food wise. I'm trying to not over pack, but my gun crap alone is enough for a small army /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

COCajun and other intrepid adventurers:

There are a lot of public land oppurtunities as far as camping go in that area. You could camp right out in the same high desert terrain ( I would suggest you stay close to roadways if you do this, especially with a trailer, as the desert soil can be unforgiving in one of the frequent surprise thunderstorms that occur in that region) we'll be shooting, or head slightly south to get up to the high country. For me personally, The Uinta Mountains (Most of which are in the Wasatch-Cache Natl. Forest as oppossed to the Uinta Natl. Forest. Go figure?) are about as close to heaven as a man can find on this earth. However, they are a little bit of a drive off and some of the roads into this area haven't been opened yet due to the massive snowfall we received this year. ANyway, I've taken the liberty of attaching a number of links below that those wishing to camp may find useful. A couple of them require Adobe Acrobat to view them. Anyway, thought they might help.

Thanks Scattergunner, usually any place I aint gonna get run off of will do just find. I'm sure I'll find a piece of "our" land that'll work.

I'm headed out with USMC on the night of the 16th and headed home the afternoon of the 18th. I'm in the process of loading 400 rounds for the .22-250 and 400 for the .223. I hope I run out! I think we may be staying at the same place as NASA?

I had a great warm-up this weekend. The Hornet is all dialed in. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Now I need more ammo. Claimbuster! Can you help me? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif
