I was just wondering if we had any marines out there. It doesnt matter if you are active duty or have been out for 20 years. Here is a picture of myself. Im currently stationed in Mirimar CA, as a Aviation ordnance technician.

Made the cover of "Stars & Stripes" from the operation (I believe Operation Chinook, been way to many years in some respects but not in others)in Quang Tri. Still have the paper with my things from back then.

Was at Khe Sanh for some of the hill fights 881N, 881S, 861, etc. If you ever get the chance, read the book Khe Sanh Hill Fights, it is well done. I rotated out a few weeks before the siege began. We had been surrounded for quite some time but they didn't completely have their big guns in place at that time. Lang Vei was Army special forces, but we would visit from time to time for a day or two.

Hey guys,

NEW MARINE here!! I just graduated from Recruit Training Yesterday!! It is soo good to be home!! I got to MCT on the 18th of this month... anyone that can give me some heads up would be greatly appreciated!! My MOS is Aviation Support.. Trying to get Airfield Services, but will take whatever i can to successfully serve my country!!! I will be going to my MOS school at Lacklin Air Force base in Texas and was wondering if anyone lived in the area and needed a hunting partner a couple of weekends!! I still have never shot a coyote or bobcat yet... Just fox... Would love to go out a couple of night with someone with more experience than me!! Also anyone know the hassle with bringing weapons onto Lacklin?? Someone PM me and give me some details!!!

(FMF) Fleet Marine Force ( Fun Music & Fantasy ) 71-75.
Joined to aid my brothers when I found out my draft number was 306 thinking I would surely go to Vietnam, but they sent me everywhere else. I guess I was one lucky fella.
Tried to re-up when Mohamar Kadofy (think that's how it's spelled) started his s_ _ t, but was too old by then.
Still love to shoot, though. Love that M14, wish I had one.

To: Rabbit616, Looking at your picture, was I ever that young, or that high and tight? OOH RAH! Go for it, Bro.!

To: animallover/hunter, Only one word of warning. Don't screw up or they'll make you a Grunt, like me. On second thought, this one is far more important, NEVER wear new/un-broken-in boots on a force march. (...we're talking double/triple blister time.) That's all the wisdom this old bird can remember. You fellas run along and have fun. And GOD bless.

To all of you who serve now- my hat is off. Having studied the history of the corps, I don't think that there has ever been a finer bunch. You guys are iron men, and make me humble (not an easy thing to do). Thanks for all you do.
By the way, when you finish up your time the whole world will seem like a piece of cake and you will wonder why people get stressed out over mindless BS. Truly, being a Marine rocks if for no other reason.
Take care, my brother.

Hey Michagander,

I used to work with a guy who was at Khe Sahn in 68 during the Tet offensive. You may have known him. His name was Neal McGeary. He and I talked about Khe Sahn quite a bit.
Any way, he died of cancer a couple of years ago. I think 2 years ago to be exact. Just thought you would like to know. He was one of your brothers.

Sorry for the bad news,
RTLOF18918B (TONY)

Neal was a great guy

Just got out in 06 did 9yrs outta the last 4 I was gone for 3 so the wife and kids told me I had to choose. Tough choice still miss it at times. However I did get my fair share of trigger time and a nice fruit salad that hangs on the wall to show off all my fance dancy deeds. Was with Light Armored Recon for 6 of my 9 and left from 1st Mar Div but i started out with 2 Mar div. 3 combat tours and made it out in one piece so no complaints, just wish I could go back and shoot some more varmits lol

1985-1989. MOS 2531 Field Radio Operator. I was stationed in Camp Lejuene,NC. I work at the VA hospital in St. Cloud, Mn now serving the heroes from this war and former wars. I miss the Corps like a missing piece of me, but serving heroes is just about as good as it gets.

Yuma,Az has some seriously fine coyote shooting. I testified in the old Yuma Territorial Court HOuse years ago in a Probation Violation Hearing on a black kid who'd killed an Army SGT in an argument in front of a cafe there.

It order to lower the chances he'd get killed by the outraged local people, his lawyer asked for/got a re-locatio to his in laws place in old Florence, Arizona, where the State Penitentiary is now.

Carry a LOT OF WATER when you're out in that country!

You old salts probably had dinosaur skins, dragon scale shields, and wooden clubs for your 782 gear.

I actually liked it at 29 Stumps.

thumbup1Jarheads rock! I had two (2) of them in my platoon @ Ranger School, Ft. Benning, l968.

Maybe you can clarify something, as the USMC used to be a part of the Navy. A guy told me today that 'he was a UDT, which was the same thing as SEALS are now. He told me his son was a SEAL sniper, but he did not know what his MOS was.

Does this sound 'right'?

Good hunting!
