I was looking through some old photos and videos this evening and uploaded this one of a warthog I took in Namibia in 2007. Thought it might be of some interest.

We waited at a waterhole for about three hours before this one showed up. We watched several families of hogs come down to the water to drink. I passed up opportunities, waiting and hoping for a good one. We were about to leave for an evening of jackal calling when this big boy showed up.

I used a .308 suppressed rifle belonging to the PH, and the shot was about 130 yards. The warthog ran about 100 yards before falling even though the shot was good.

Really nice warthog. Like the video and the chatter from the guide. Wouldn't have guessed those facial growths served a purpose.

Nice. I always thought I'd like to kill one of those.

Hard to visualize a warthog on a platter with an apple in it's mouth, though. wink lol

ETA: Also surprisingly good eating is Zebra backstraps.

hm
