Night vision binoculars

My wife wants to get my son a pair of night vision binoculars for use around his property. He mainly just deer hunts and has a lot of deer around his house. I do not know anything about them and the ones she looked at were under 200.00. My feelings are at that price they are probably a waste of money. I just bought a Pulsar thermal monocular and it’s hard for me to recommend anything night vision for 200.00, if you know what I mean, especially after using this thermal monocular. So I’m asking, are night vision binoculars a waste of money? Thanks
