AA2200 with 55gr bullets in 223 REM

I experimented with AA2200 and 55gr bullets several years ago. Ran ladders from book starting to max loads through several different AR's with barrel lengths of 12.5", 16", 18" and 20". Velocities were very fast, groups were very disappointing. More like shotgun patterns. Every barrel tested has easily been sub MOA with several other loads/powders and the same 55gr bullets. Gave up on AA2200 in .223. Hope you have better luck.

I run AA2200 with 60gr Vmax. I use a 10.5" bbl, .223 wylde, and 1/7 twist. 21 grains is from the Western Load Data, which is a top end .223 Remington load. The groups are 1.125" and snug up as it gets colder.

I tested 23-24 grains and the groups open up a LOT. I have never chronied any of it but the load that I settled on is deadly accurate (considering that I use a Red Dot - Sig Romeo 5).

I know this is not your question, But 2200 & 40gr V-MAX will get you 3750fps from a 20 in. barrel with 27gr of 2200 in .223 wilde chamber. they work excellent on coyotes. Thought you might be interested.
