Places that are high & dry like the rocky Mtn states usually don't have much of a flea problem but there might be enough moisture and warmth in a coyote den to allow them. The minute the carcass cools off the bugs are going to bail and seek another warm body (especially the fleas and lice). The worst thing would be the ones that have scabies (sarcoptic mange). If there are any bald spots, crusty dandruffy areas or signs of scratching the skin, leave them lay. Don't fling them over your shoulder or waist or you could get mange. Don't even put them in the rig where your dog might contact mites that have crawled or fallen off. They can live for about 3 days off the body.
