My First Texas Hog

I'm guessing this hog weighed about 50 to 60 pounds. One of about 15 hogs that came into a water hole one night close to dark. He was quartering away from me at about 50 yards and I shot him a little far back with my 22 Hornet. Couldn't find any blood but I followed a cow trail that I thought he had run down and sure enough he was about 30 yards into the brush just standing there----don't think he was feeling too well. I finished it off, but it took 3 more rounds from the Hornet. Was definitely under gunned, but it worked out.

Nice, that's a good eater there. I have a couple of 22 Hornets but never have used them on hogs, if I did, I'd try to ear hole them. My first hog I shot was with a 223 and right behind the ear, he didn't go too far.
