Good to see you're still after it.

Not willing to quit yet.

the hand writing is on the wall. My friends dad in ND has 3 big big prairie dog downs on 3 different ranchers they own and they have not got one booked Hunt for 2021. Not a one. They use to average 20 booking by now on the books. there will be very little prairie dog shooters heading west this year. You would have to be millionaire to go and shoot 400 rounds a day of factory 223 ammo at 1.50 or more around or reloaders spending 40 cents for Just primers plus lead to shoot 400 rounds a day. Great if you bought when prices were down but even then knowing that this ammo shortage will take a long time to straighten out guys will not shoot 400 rounds a day at PD’s. For the average gun owner If you are not shooting at a person that is threating your Life or property , or shooting at a animal to feed you and your family or to dispatch a animal you are trapping for its fur , you are not shooting. 90 % of gun owners are not shooting. My local range has had a 15 people sign the check in book since end of January. Average shooter that signs in the book ,stay 10 minutes. They shoot 6 times to make sure their pistol or rifle is sighted in and that’s it. It’s over for target and recreation shooting I am afraid for things like prairie dogs. Just my opinion from what my Freind is seeing in ND on his dads ranches. MD

If your friend needs some help getting rid of his varmint problem I am available at only a dollar a round, plus food and lodging. LOL.

Was in Wyoming last week. Looked pretty desolate. Not a lot of vegetation. Found a few dogs but not many. Looked like a lot of the areas have been run over with trucks, atv, sideXsides. No respect for any of the vegetation. No one is staying on the two tracks. Sad. They are driving right up on the mounds.

Well, if trying to get out dogging with the ammo shortages, here’s what I would do. If needed, use less than optimum ammo and/or bullets. Yes, many of us like BT’s or the Blitzking, but use whatever. Be mindful of ricochets if it applies in your area.

One other thing I normally do, is put some ‘hunting’ into the mix, besides just ‘shooting’. That mainly means picking your shots more carefully, not to the extreme one may do while big game hunting, but you get the idea. A few years ago when I was dogging, I counted up to 20 shots from the partner to my one. Maybe he got more dogs total, but I know my ratio was much higher.

Just about always while dogging, a lull in the action brings up those closer dogs. It’s hard not to enjoy that full-bodied, 70 yard shot.

Oh my gosh yes. Once I was taking a sammich break when a dumb big and apparently blind prairie dog appeared about 60 yards out. I had my .17 Remington on my bench at the time. The 20 grain Vmaxes were loaded to about 4400 fps at the muzzle and the one I hit him with had not slowed down very much. Biggest piece of him was his head. With a very most startled look on his face too.

Was it public or private ground? On private ground it likely was from someone putting out prairie dog bait.

Went out with a buddy today. Shot for 5 hrs. The pups are out. Now I have to reload some brass. We left carnage in a couple of towns. The rain held off till later in the afternoon. Great time.

Public. BLM and it was ugly.

Just pass on smoking and drinking for the year and you will have $1250 for ammo.. dont do those things--avoid the $4/cup coffee places and how much will that yield??

That Pesky Document may stand in my way of disarming you!!!!!

But I'll fix that I'll make policies that makes shortages, people not willing to work and rather take handouts, fuel prices through the roof. And impose a ecomnomy that makes you dependant upon big government to just exist even if you attempt otherwise I'll make the dollar worthless. If you don't comply I'll deny you the right to exist by shaming, and finally any other means that I as a big government can do. I'll post messages that devides and pits Americans against themselves, black against white against brown Yellow against everyone, red versus blue versus independant. Vax against non vax. I'll use scare tactics that drives people to buy more guns and ammo than the supply channels can handle. California is dong my bidding by only allowing new Truck to move Containers from her ports. Filling the Sea lanes with ships off her coast. If all else fails and you do find some common ground to unite and rise I'll label you a domestic terrorist, imprision you without bail or even a indicment by a grand jury (Patriot act has those provisions).

You keep your guns may it work well as a club. Remember we have the Ammo, the F-16s and Nuclear weapons.

Signed the Democratic Socalist Party of America aka Democratic Party ...........
Problem is some Republicans have even taken up camp with these fools ( a Lot more than we would Like to admit).

The problem with what I typed above is I DIDNT have to dream it Up nor did it require a tin foil hat.
THEY Flat out have already told us to our face. OUR problem is we as a nation dont want to beleive them. When someone shows you who they are Believe them. The Socialist learned this lesson very well from the Nazi's when used against them.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. - Post war speech by Pastor Martin Niemöller Germany during the Rise of the Nazi Party

(BTW I'm more than likely as not on a watch list already when I retired, as Obummer's DHS placed EVERY VETERAN on one when he was in office as a possiable domestic terrorist)

With what what I posted above I suspect that even if I do round up componets etc to go next year. Fuel prices and lodging will be the issue unless I buy a mule, and dang it getting to old to lay on the ground.

I hate the thought of not being able to go as I really enjoy varmint / gopher /PD hunting they are such nice reactive targets. Sorry to be so negative about this. Just sharing my thoughts and assessments of the whole situation. may it change for the better
