Cats in AZ municipalities.

Can't use a firearm, but there is also laws against hunting in the city. Like Phoenix.

there are certain area's (much to the anger of Phoenix and Scottsdale) that are posted by the state as state trust land that you are able to hunt in. However, you will again cross the city by discharging a firearm.

Some get around it by using pellet guns under 25 caliber, or using a trap on their own private land, and a catch pole or other methods to dispatch the catch animal.

Fish and Game is friendly and I would suggest that you talk to someone and explain what you are doing and ask if there are provisions that prohibit what you are doing.

YES....

Lions:
The metro game management units (11M, 25M, 26M 38M) are open to "Archery Only." See page 61 in the 2016-2017 AZ Hunting Regulations.

Bobcats:
The metro game management units (11M, 25M, 26M, 38M) are open to a "Limited Weapon Shotgun Shooting Shot (Daylight Shooting Hours)." season. See page 83 in the 2016-2017 AZ Hunting Regulations.

Here is where the regulations are conflicting. If you are hunting bobcats in a metro unit with a shotgun and you encounter a lion, you cannot shoot the lion with a shortgun because lions are restrited to an "Archery Only" season for metro units.

Archery equipment can also be used in a Limited Weapon Shotgun Shooting Shot season (Commission Rule: R12-4-318 C13). The AGFD should consider changing the lion season in metro units from "Archery Only" to a "Limited Weapon Shotgun Shooting Shot" season so archery AND shotguns can be used for lions in metro game management units.
