I'll be bringing a hand held gps with a AZ chip, but I always still like to have a map to look over in the car at times to see a larger area. Is there a good place in town to go pick ones up of the area that show some of the back roads? How about sportsmans warehouse?

These guys have some good maps. Forest service, usgs, etc.

Don't know about Sportsman's in Tucson, but the one in Abq carries BLM maps that show land ownership and features. Pretty much the same info as on your GPS, but in much larger scale so you can get a good idea of how things fit together.

Go to the BLM office here in Tucson and you can pick up maps for the state. Plus you can get a DeLorme Atlas&Gazetteer that covers the whole state on fifty maps ànd shows state and BLM land but isn't in as great a detàil but it also haß road names that are lacking on the BLM maps
